Gillnetting, Fish Catch, OBM, Jaleshwar coast, Veraval. The study was envisaged to know the cost and earnings of gillnetters operating from Jaleshwar village; Veraval (Dist. Junagadh), Gujarat and the economic viability of gillnet fishing. The study was carried out from October, 2008 to September, 2009. The maximum revenue was fetched by Silver pomfret, with (35.24%) share of the total revenue generated during the study period.

The traditional Chinese dip net is symbolic of Kerala and is a major tourist attraction. These nets are operated along the banks of the lakes in the state, especially the Vembanad lake. It is categorized into three type i.e. big, medium and small. The economic value generated by the Chinese dip nets operated in the Vembanad lake was estimated using market price approach. The willingness-to-pay (WTP) is taken to be equal to market price of fish and shrimp catch and this was used as an indicator of the true value of a resource.

Preliminary studies on conventional estuarine set bag net (CESBN) were carried out during 2016-17 to know the current catch composition. The set bag net is locally fabricated fixed net, normally operated in estuarine region during winter season. The fishing trials were carried out in day time with soaking period of six hours excluding time of setting and hauling. Total of twenty cruises were made for the entire period of study. Results revealed that locally rigged set bag net with 20mm bar mesh size at cod end landed average catch composition of 23.15 kg/haul.

The present study was conducted to gather information on traditional knowledge is being followed by Kombuthurai fishers. Kombuthurai is a small fishing village located in Thoothukudi district where they are following a unique fishing practice by hook and line method, without employing any fishing nets. Major and minor targeted catches and its peculiar fishing ground, determined hook size and bait fish usage for those fishery were documented based on their traditional knowledge.

Bile duct cancer is commonly found in the Mekong River Basin, i.e. in the northeast of Thailand, where the main protein source is fish. The villagers usually consume uncooked cyprinid fish, which is infected with the infective stage of liver fluke. Northeastern Thailand has a dry savanna climate, but during the rainy season, floods overwhelm the river and wetlands. The villagers use various methods to catch fish and they like eating the fish from the wetland, uncooked.

Research on 2,626 individuals of sharks, rays and skates in total of 123 fishing boats were sampled during 2015 to 2016 in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Thuan provinces. The results identified 77 species of sharks, rays and skates belong to 22 families and 10 orders in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Thuan provinces. Of these, 57 species were recorded in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and 48 species in Binh Thuan. The families were found in the highest number of species such as Carcharhinidae family with 9 species, Dasyatidae family with 19 species and Rajidae family with 5 species.

The present study was conducted in Jorhat district of Assam, India to study the socioeconomic and socio-personal characteristics of the paddy cum fish farmers and their perception on fish species diversity and its conservation in the district.
