This research investigates the effect of cobalt precursor and calcination time on the morphology and catalytic activity of Co3O4 films in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Co3O4 films with porous flower-like nanostructures were obtained using cobalt nitrate as a cobalt precursor, while cobalt chlorides were used to produce porous nanoneedle structures Co3O4 film.

Ebook "Epigenetic memory and control in plants" highlights recent advances in our understanding of epigenetic mechanisms as a major determinant through which internal and external signals, such as those occurring during hybridization, flowering time, reproduction and response to stress, communicate with plant cells to bring about activation of multiple nuclear processes and consequently plant growth and development. The outcome of these processes may persist for generations long after the initial cues have expired and may contribute to plant evolution.

Excessive salt consumption has been found to cause many negative effects on human health. To date, many researches have been conducted to reduce the sodium content of the diet. This study focused on the comparison of saltiness intensity and other parameters in timeintensity curves of four commercial grain salts in four regions of Viet Nam (Bac Lieu, Thanh Hoa, Sa Huynh, Vung Tau), one flower salt in Sa Huynh and a control sample with two particle sizes of 1-2 mm and 2-3 mm to find out their taste perception characteristics.

In Vietnam, there was a report in 1996 on the chemical composition of the essential oils from the leaves and flowers of two cultivars of A. sinensis. Unfortunately, at that time, the authors were not able to investigate the root oil of these plants (Nguyen Xuan Dung et al., 1996). In the present study, we report on the chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of essential oils obtained from the roots, flowers, fruits, and a mixture of leaves and stems of A. sinensis cultivated in Hung Yen province, Vietnam.

Knock-out of TERMINAL FLOWER 1 genes altered flowering time and plant architecture in Brassica napus
TERMINAL FLOWER 1 (TFL1) is a member of phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein (PEBP) family, which plays an important role in the determination of floral meristem identity and regulates flowering time in higher plants.

Global warming severely affects flowering time and reproductive success of plants. Alternative splicing of pre-messenger RNA (mRNA) is an important mechanism underlying ambient temperature-controlled responses in plants, yet its regulation is poorly understood.

Dent and Flint represent two major germplasm pools exploited in maize breeding. Several traits differentiate the two pools, like cold tolerance, early vigor, and flowering time. A comparative investigation of their genomic architecture relevant for quantitative trait expression has not been reported so far.

This work introduces a simple process to synthesize directly bi-phase a-/g-Fe2O3 submicron flowers on a Fe foil in NH4OH. The flowers were assembled by using many nanoplates with an estimated thickness of 20e80 nm. The shapes and dimensions of the flowers can be controlled by the treatment time.

The expressions of Prunus dulcis C-repeat-binding factors (PdCBF1) and (PdCBF2) genes that are the major components in the cold responsive network of plants were studied in almonds. Real time PCR analysis of buds revealed the differential expression pattern of PpFT, PabSOC1, PdCBF1, PdCBF2 genes. The expressions of PpFT and PabSOC1 correlated with each other. Similarly, the expressions of PdCBF1 and PdCBF2 genes revealed a similar expression pattern in almonds. However, the expression of flowering genes were inversely correlated with the cold response genes in most of the almond accessions.

In the present study, wrinkled surfaces were discovered on the cell wall thickenings of helical vessels in the lilac style for the first time. The structure of the wrinkles was formed by cellulose microfibrils, with convex ridges composed of crystalline cellulose and concave grooves composed of amorphous cellulose. The cellulose microfibrils were oriented with the helical cell wall thickenings. The wrinkle morphology was due to the aligned crystalline region of the microfibrils.

Salvia L. is an ideal exemplar to demonstrate prezygotic isolation mechanisms in sympatric populations due to their wellknown staminal lever mechanism. Mechanical, phenological, and ethological isolation mechanisms have been reported among sympatric species of Salvia. However, it has been shown that if closely related species are sympatric and flower at the same time, they can potentially hybridize. In this study, we describe two new hybrid species of Salvia (S. × karamanensis Celep & B.T.Drew, and S. × doganii Celep & B.T.Drew) from Turkey based on morphological and molecular evidence.

The Saxifragales is a morphologically and ecologically diverse clade of flowering plants with a cosmopolitan distribution. Although families and genera within the order exhibit classic biogeographical disjunctions, no studies to date have rigorously examined and described its historical biogeography. Here, we analyze the historical biogeography of Saxifragales by first generating a new chronogram for the order using a supermatrix approach, based on 61 loci from 251 representative members of Saxifragales.

Tagetes patula is used to treat cancer patients in alternative healthcare systems. However, its cytotoxic and genotoxic effects have not been reported. Therefore, the methanol extract of T. patula flower, the ethyl acetate fraction, and the pure compound patuletin were evaluated using the Allium test. The methanol extract and fraction contained ~3% and ~36% patuletin, respectively, with ~98% purity. The methanol extract caused inhibition of Allium root growth displaying an IC50 value of ~500 µg/mL, while the fraction and patuletin were more potent by ~2 and ~5 times, respectively.

Stevia rebaudiana is a medicinal plant recommended to diabetic or obese patients as an alternative sweetener owing to its low-calorie property. Previous studies have found that the stevioside level is highest at the time of flower bud formation and lowest at the time of preceding and following flower bud formation. Hence, this study aims to identify the genes involved in the flowering of local S.

In this study, we report the correlation between the structure and activity of flavone and the flavone derivatives that semi-synthesized and synthesized from the flower buds of the Styphnolobium japonicum (Leguminosae family) and the citrus peel, with effects against AChE. Results showed that the new functional groups of compounds Q2 and Q4 increased AChE inhibition 3 times better than quercetin. The molecular docking study was investigated in order to illuminate the experimental results and find binding modes of these prospective derivatives.

Flowering is a critical reproductive process in higher plants. Timing of optimal flowering depends upon the coordination among seasonal environmental cues. For cool season grasses, such as Dactylis glomerata, vernalization induced by low temperature provides competence to initiate flowering after prolonged cold. We combined analyses of the transcriptome and microRNAs (miRNAs) to generate a comprehensive resource for regulatory miRNAs and their target circuits during vernalization and heading stages.

Optimum flowering time is a key agronomic trait in Brassica napus. To investigate the genetic architecture and genetic regulation of flowering time in this important crop, we conducted quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis of flowering time in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population, including lines with extreme differences in flowering time, in six environments, along with RNA-Seq analysis.
