The objective of this study was to describe temporal variations in the diet and parasitological aspects in Liolaemus parvus. In order to examine the diet, we determined the volume, numerousness, and frequency of occurrence for each prey item and calculated the relative importance index. We removed nematodes from the stomach and estimated parasitic indicators. Liolaemus parvus presents an active searching mode.

The present study hypothesized that ruzigrass seed treatment and sowing density and period influence seed germination and seedling establishment and that physical and/or allelopathic effects of the leaves and petioles of soybean cultivars are a major factor for interseeding success. To test these hypotheses, the influences of seed treatment, sowing density, time, and soybean cultivar on the emergence of ruzigrass seedlings in a soybean interseeding system were evaluated with the aim of mitigating environmental effects in the establishment of forage in succession to soybean.

Under natural conditions, soil nutrients are heterogeneously distributed, and plants have developed adaptation strategies to efficiently forage patchily distributed nutrient. The result demonstrates that root morphological and physiological plasticity are important adaptive strategies for foraging patchily distributed P and the former is largely determined by patch strength and size.

Cowpea is important multipurpose crop which is used for the purpose of food, feed, forage, catch crop, green manuring and cover crop. The crop is prone to rust disease which causes severe yield loss. Hence to manage the disease chemicals which are expensive and hazardous are usually used by the farmers. Alternately a different strategy to manage the same was experimented with the use of elicitors which are compounds which activate chemical defence in plants and this induced defence response in susceptible variety C-152 was examined.

Azolla is a free floating, rapidly growing aquatic fern on water surface. It is one of the most nutritive aquatic plants, owing to its high protein and carotenoid contents and of generally good amino acid profile. Traditional supplements based on oilseed cakes are expensive and cannot fulfill the required nutrients to animals. Forage-based economical feeding strategies are required to reduce production cost of quality livestock products. Productivity of dairy animals largely depends of efficient feeding management.

Oats rank around sixth in world cereal production statistics, following wheat, maize, rice, barley and sorghum. In many parts of the world, oats are grown for use as grain as well as for forage and fodder, straw for bedding, hay, haylage, silage and chaff. Livestock grain feed is still the primary use of oat crops, accounting for an average of around 74 percent of the world’s total usage. In India, breeding of oats begun in nineteen-eighties and is grown as the most important cereal fodder crop in North Western, Central India, extending to the eastern regions.

Berseem, a nitrogen-fixing, annual, multicut forage crop cultivated around 2 million hectares areas of northern, central and eastern parts of India. Berseem has variability for pollination behavior however variation for morphological and agronomic traits are scare, perhaps, because of initially introduction of crop with narrow genetic base. Genetic variability have been fortified through introduction of exotic materials, intra-interspecific hybridization, induction of polyploidy and mutation. ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute maintain >900 accessions of Trifolium spp.

Successful agroforestry management depends on the interactions between the mixed species. Belowground interactions between shrubs and native grasses are complicated and poorly understood in China’s agroforestry practice, especially in the silvopasture systems of droughty northern China.
