The primary goal of supply chain management is to meet customer needs through the most efficient use of resources, including the allocation of capacity, inventory and workforce. In theory, the supply chain management seeks to match supply and demand and seeks to do so at minimal cost. And the main indicator of changes in the ratio of supply and demand is the change in the price of products. Trend-seasonal time series models were used to analyze the price behavior in the milk market of the Northern region of Kazakhstan.

This paper aims to provide insights into the barriers of forecasting uncertain product demand in supply chain by focusing on the relative importance of the barriers for businesses, particularly the forecast practitioners and prospective forecast implementers. A exploratory, qualitative approach was adopted within an Australian electrical manufacture. Data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with 20 participants from different departments, including forecasting practitioners, supplier and customer of the Australian electronics manufacturer.

The novelty that this paper identifies relates to the reduction of cost volatility in the global supply chain. This novelty is further seen in the proposition that blockchain can achieve this objective. Blockchain’s distributed ledger framework achieves improved inventory control, improved demand forecasting, and more efficient just-in-time productivity as factors to reduce cost-loading in the global supply chain.

Uncertainties inherent in customer demands make it difficult for supply chains to achieve just-in-time inventory replenishment, resulting in loosing sales opportunities or keeping excessive chain-wide inventories. The performance of the proposed RF model is evaluated using three statistical measurements: root mean squared error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and correlation coefficient (R). The results show that the RF model has high predictive accuracy with an RMSE of 210 cnt/h, an MAE of 121 cnt/h, and an R of 0.90. The performance of the RF model is also compared with a linear regression model and shows superior accuracy.
