Fruit and shoot borer
-
Screening of okra genotypes was carried out under four different environments for shoot and fruit borer, yellow vein mosaic virus disease and enation leaf curl virus disease. The genotypes responded differently to different environments against different insect-pests and diseases. None of the genotype was found free from shoot and fruit borer infection, YVMV and ELCV incidence. However the genotypes that were found with some degree of resistance might be used for future breeding programmes.

The present investigations were carried out with a view to find out the Economics of different treatments against brinjal shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis (Guen.), on Brinjal, Solanum melongena (Linn.) FOR Higher Yeild at department of Agriculture Zoology and Entomology, Raja Balwant Singh College of Agriculture, Bichpuri, Agra, (U.P.). As regards to the brinjal yield, Spinosad 45 SC and Emamectin benzoate 5 SG were found most effective treatments recorded yield to 215.74 q/ha and 207.40 q/ha respectively followed by Cypermethrin 25 EC (197.45 q/ha).

Bioefficacy of newer and biorational insecticides against shoot and fruit borer, Earias spp. on Okra
An experiment was conducted on bioefficacy of newer and biorational insecticides against shoot and fruit borer on okra. Efficacy of insecticides tested against Earias spp on okra indicated that the minimum per cent infestation of shoot and fruit borer was found in the treatment of indoxacarb (1.36%) followed by spinosad (1.75%), emamectin benzoate (2.57%) and fipronil (2.98%). The acetamiprid, acephate, dimethoate/ malathion and NSKE registered 3.25, 4.23, 4.81 and 5.28 per cent infestation of shoot and fruit borer and existed in moderate group of efficacy. The treatments of B.

The variability in their population and damage can be related to changes in the ambient environment. With a view on the climate change projections for India, an attempt has been made here to study the impact of the likely changes in abiotic component in relation to BSFB and Hadda beetle in brinjal crop under Allahabad agroclimatic conditions.

Thirty five accessions of brinjal were assessed for variability for nineteen characters. Highly significant differences were observed among the accessions. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation was observed for number of fruits per cluster, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit width, average fruit weight, fruit yield per plant, ascorbic acid content, total phenol content, shoot and fruit borer infestation indicating the existence of wider genetic variability for these traits in the germplasm.
