Garo hills of Meghalaya

Present study was undertaken to identify extent of awareness of farm women regarding climate change. A total of hundred samples were collected for the present study. The results revealed that during pre-intervention respondents had attained low level of awareness regarding indicators on climate change whereas after post-intervention there level of awareness regarding indicators on climate change were in high level.

In the study, α-galactosidase released by Lactic acid bacteria catalyse hydrolysis of galactose containing oligosaccharide. Similarly, β-glucosidase of lactic acid bacteria are making a significant contribution to the dietary and sensory attributes of fermented foods as by deglucosylation, they can release flavour compounds from glucosylated precursors and could increases the bioavailability of health-promoting secondary metabolites. Therefore, the aim of this study was to select strains of lactic acid bacteria isolated from ethnic fermented foods of West Garo Hills of Meghalaya state.

The present study on ―Low back pain assessment of Farm women involved in Sericulture‖ was done to assess the musculoskeletal discomforts faced by farm women who are actively involved in Sericulture industry. Low back pain is a universal experience that every human has at some point. It is a symptom of a pain that can be found between the twelfth rib and the inferior gluteal folds of the body. Sericulture is an important industry in the rural areas of Meghalaya where rural women are involved. The study was done in two villages of Samanda Block in East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

Reproductive health awareness is an important and emerging issue especially among adolescents. The present study aimed to investigate the extent of awareness regarding reproductive health among tribal adolescent girls. A total sample of 100 school going adolescent girls from 13 to 18 years were randomly selected from five villages of South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

Fermented Rice Beverage is one of the most popular and ethnic fermented alcoholic beverages of Meghalaya Region located in North-eastern part of India. Locally, rice beverage is known as Chubitchi by Garo, kyiad by Khasi and Sadhiar by Jaintias tribes of Meghalaya, it is prepared by using rice and dried starter culture. Dried starter culture or Wanti is used for traditional rice beverage processing by Garo tribes. The nature of microbes was assessed and their source during fermentation was studied generally to explore the microbial diversity associated with the rice beverage samples.

This paper identified their knowledge level of different ICTs in agriculture and allied sectors, their attitude towards different ICTs and their perceived effect of ICTs in agriculture and allied sectors. The study was conducted in the district of West Garo Hills, Meghalaya. A total of hundred samples were collected for the present study and was studied between March 2018 and May 2019. The results revealed that large percentage (81%) of the respondents have use mobile phones.

The present study was an attempt to assess the extent of utilization of IBDLP by Garo farm women in Garo Hills Of Meghalaya as IBDLP is a mission mode programme which focuses to alleviate the poverty and imparts knowledge to farm women through different training programme to become self-independent and increase their livelihood. The study was conducted in Rongram block of West Garo Hills and Betasing block of South West Garo Hills Meghalaya. Total 100 numbers of women beneficiaries were taken and their socio economic characteristics were studied.

The understanding of physical characteristics and physical fitness are considered as the best measure of an individual capability in doing physical work. A sample of 40 women working in small tea plantations of West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya were selected for the present study with two age groups 20-35 years and 36-50 years who have spent maximum years and highest field experience in tea leaf plucking. Physical characteristics of subjects were assessed by recording age, height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), VO2 max of women workers. The mean age of all the women workers was 35.
