Leaching behaviour of combination product (novaluron 5.25% + indoxacarb 4.5% SC) was investigated in sandy loam soil at 43.31 + 37.13 g a.i. ha-1 (single dose) and 86.62 + 74.26 g a.i. ha-1 (double dose) under laboratory conditions as per average annual rainfall of 400 mm. Residues of novaluron and indoxacarb were estimated at different depths of soil and in leachates with the help of gas liquid chromatography (GLC) equipped with electron capture detector (ECD). Method was validated by performing recovery experiments at different spiking (0.01 - 0.10 mg kg-1 ) levels.

When boron carbide is used as a neutron absorber in nuclear power plants, large quantities of helium are produced. To simulate the gas behaviour, helium implantations were carried out in boron carbide. The samples were then annealed up to 1500 °C in order to observe the influence of temperature and duration of annealing.

Olfactory cues have a large impact on insect behaviour and fitness consequently showing potential in pest management. Yeast released volatiles are used by insects as olfactory cues for finding feeding and oviposition sites. The yeast strain SB-16-15 was isolated from spontaneous fermentation of Hippophae rhamnoides berries and identified as Pichia kudriavzevii. Thirty-nine volatiles were sampled from the headspace of P. kudriavzevii yeasts by solid phase micro extraction and identified by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques.

We report that autonomous oscillations, which usually happen in aerobic glucose-limited continuous cultures of yeast at low dilution rate, were also observed in trehalose discontinuous cultures ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae. This unexpected oscillatory behaviour was therefore examined using fast Fourier transformation of online gas measurements. This robust mathemat-ical analysis underlined the existence of two types of oscillation.

The West Pearl Queen reservoir project also used soil gas surveys to detect PFC tracers that were injected into the reservoir with the CO2. Soil gas sampling was conducted before and after the CO2 injection by using capillary tubes and adsorbent packets for the tracers. Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) supplied the tracers and performed the tracer concentration analysis (Wells et al., 2007).
