Ebook "Modified cyclodextrins for chiral separation" offers a review of the latest advances in developing modified cyclodextrins as chiral selectors for various chromatographic and electromigration techniques. Over the years, many descriptions of chiral separation have appeared in academic journals and books, but most of them have been devoted to either the development of analytical methods and protocols or the summary of different chiral selectors, including cyclodextrins for chiral separation applications.

Ebook "Solid base catalysis (Springer series in Chemical physics, Volume 101)" is focused on the solid base. Because of the advantages over liquid bases, the use of solid base catalysts in organic synthesis is expanding. Solid bases are easier to dispose than liquid bases, separation and recovery of products, catalysts and solvents are less difficult, and they are non-corrosive. Furthermore, base-catalyzed reactions can be performed without using solvents and even in the gas phase, opening up more possibilities for discovering novel reaction systems.

The effects of pH, ionic strength and polymer ratio in the complexation of chitosan (CHI) with different anionic polysaccharides, namely gum Arabic (GA), sodium alginate (ALG) and κ-carrageenan (CRG), were investigated. This was made using titration techniques, which allowed the determination of stoichiometry and binding constant of complexes.

The abundance and composition of matrix compounds in fire debris samples undergoing ignitable liquid residue analysis frequently leads to inconclusive results, which can be diminished by applying comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC × GC). Method development must be undertaken to fully utilize the potential of GC × GC by maximizing separation space and resolution.

In this study, new chiral ionic liquids based on the non-protein amino acid L-carnitine as cationic chiral counterpart and several anions (bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide (NTf2 −), L-lactate− or Cl−) as counterions were synthesized. Moreover, three different salts based on L-carnitine were also synthesized and the other three were commercially acquired and used for comparison.

This work presents a combined molecular simulation and experimental study to understand the effect of graphene on the packing and gas adsorption performance of a new class of polymers, known as polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIMs). PIMs can be processed to membranes or other useful forms and their chemistry can be tailored for specific applications.
