Genotypes for breeding strategies
-
Genotype imputation has been used to increase genomic information, allow more animals in genome-wide analyses, and reduce genotyping costs. In Brazilian beef cattle production, many animals are resulting from crossbreeding and such an event may alter linkage disequilibrium patterns.

Discovering single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from agriculture crop genome sequences has been a widely used strategy for developing genetic markers for several applications including marker-assisted breeding, population diversity studies for eco-geographical adaption, genotyping crop germplasm collections, and others.

The exploitation of yield potential through inter sub specific (inter-racial) hybridization become a challenging task for rice breeders. Grain yield improvement is considered to be prime objective of any breeding programme, quality traits are yet another important consideration of rice breeding in India. Association of yield and yield components and among grain quality traits thus assumes a unique prominence as the basis for selecting desirable high yielding genotypes with good grain quality characters.

The present study was carried out to assessment of genetic diversity and screening of sheath blight at the Research Farm of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, N.D. University of Agriculture & Technology, Narendra Nagar (Kumarganj), Faizabad. Results revealed that 22 genotypes were grouped into five different non-overlapping clusters. Cluster V, having 6 genotypes, emerged with highest number of entries. The maximum intra-cluster distance was found for cluster II (325.16) and highest inter-cluster distance was recorded between cluster IV and V (32140.59).

Brinjal production is threatened by bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum in the developing world. Evaluation in search of best performing genotypes against bacterial wilt disease and incorporating their genes in commercial cultivars is an effective attempt to the problem. Studies on genetic variability and heritability, along with degree of association between the various characters and direct effects of yield contributing characters on total yield, is of paramount significance in framing an appropriate breeding strategy.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the green gram accessions to assess the magnitude of genetic variability and to understand the heritable component of variation for seed yield and its component traits. Estimation of genetic parameters would be useful in developing appropriate breeding and selection strategies. A field trial was laid under a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications; observation was recorded on ten morphological characters (as detailed in material and methods) among the 100 genotypes collected green gram collections.
