Geometric gradient

The investigation of magnetic field strength variations over subterranean layers may reveal their locations on Earth’s surface and provide physical and geometrical characteristics. Magnetic studies were carried out around Gölcük caldera lake using proton magnetometers to identify subsurface volcanic structures. The acquired data were inverted using four different edge detection algorithms such as analytic signal, tilt angle, theta map, horizontal gradient. Afterwards, the results were used to determine the locations of the anomalous structures.

A compilation of depositional facies and 14C ages from the two new cores (DT2, and DT4 cores) considerably contribute to clarify the Holocene evolution of the paleo Mekong River (MR) incised valley, Mekong River Delta (MRD). The longitudial section documents the geometric features indicating the different gradients along the paleo-Mekong incised valley from the Cambodian lowerlands through delta plain up to the shallow offshore of the MRD.

A procedure was designed to assess individual exposure to NO2 as a marker of outdoor air pollution considering both spatial and temporal variations on exposure. Ambi- ent NO2 concentrations for 93 sampling points covering the study area were obtained using radial symmetry pas- sive samplers (Radiello®, Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri, Padua/Italy) which remained exposed for four sampling periods of 7 days each. The campaigns took place in April, June, and November 2004 and February 2005.
