  • In this study, 4E (energy, exergy, exergoeconomic, and exergoenvironmental) analysis of an underfloor heating system integrated with the geothermal heat pump of a greenhouse with a usage area of 90 m2 has been made. When the results of the 4E analysis applied to the system and its elements were examined, the energy efficiency of the heating system in the winter months has been determined to be 77.85% and the exergy efficiency 30.61%.

  • The institutionally oriented papers focus on solar thermal energy and bio-based thermal energy. Other thermal technologies, such as geothermal wells, are largely neglected in the literature, but are known to have different institutional constraints. Informal rules and values are mainly researched from a consumer perspective. Since energy communities often consist of consumers and prosumers, additional research is warranted into this area.

  • Geothermal energy constitutes an important renewable resource in Turkey that has been extensively utilized for heating buildings, power generation, greenhouse farming and various other industries. One of the most remarkable geothermal locations in Turkey is the low-enthalpy area of Afyon, where five main low-temperature (30–110℃) geothermal fields are exploited. However, further exploration drilling sites have proven inconclusive, casting doubts on the effective presence of high-temperature geothermal systems in the region.

  • Before this earthquake, water resources were monitored in the areas of Bayraklı, Gülbahçe, and Seferihisar. For this purpose, 10 groundwater monitoring wells were drilled in the Bayraklı area, where groundwater level, temperature, and electrical conductivity changes were monitored at 1-h intervals in 5 wells. Besides physical parameters such as groundwater levels, temperatures and electrical conductivities, hydrogeochemical cations, and anions measured in the study area. Change in the groundwater levels was observed before, during, and after the Samos earthquake.

  • Varto and the surrounding region have important geothermal fields, developing in strike-slip tectonic setting in East Anatolia, which resulted from the collision of the Arabian and Eurasian plates. The main structural elements in the area are the NE-trending sinistral and NW-trending dextral strike-slip fault segments and N-S trending extension zones. In order to determine fault-controlled geothermal circulation, it is very important to fully characterize the structural elements in these complex environments.

  • Nowadays, the need for energy is increasing more and more. It is more difficult to acquire new resources in various fields than to preserve existing energy resources. Although Turkey is a very rich state in terms of various energy resources, misuse of these resources can even lead to conflicts that may occur between the states in forthcoming years. In today’s economic conditions, we can only protect our energy resources with the correct way of management.

  • Although the western Anatolian region is a foci for hydrothermal systems, this region has several high heat-generating granitic intrusive bodies that qualify to be candidates for enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). Considering the future energy requirement, carbon dioxide emissions reduction strategies, food, and water security issues, these granites appear to be the future clean energy source for the country. One such granite intrusive is located in the Kestanbol area in the western Anatolian region.

  • Batch-type laboratory reactivity experiments and mo delling of hydrogeochemical interactions of a granite-scCO2-water system were conducted at 100 °C and 10 MPa in order to evaluate the geochemical and mineralogical responses of the granite to long-term reaction. The laboratory reactivity tests were conducted for a to t l duration of 70 days, and the continued hydrogeochemical interactions for up to 210 days we re determined by geochemical simulations.

  • Balçova-Narlıdere Geothermal Field (BNGF) hosts the largest geothermal district heating system of Turkey and several geothermal wells used for district heating and thermal tourism activities. This study assesses the use of BNGF geothermal fluid for agricultural activities. The spent geothermal brine was treated using nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membranes on a pilot-scale membrane test system. The qualities of the product were evaluated in terms of agricultural irrigation integrated with the implemented innovative wireless sensor network.

  • Geothermal ventilation provides a better alternative in securing the energy crises. Geothermal energy is a heat contained within the earth that generates geological phenomena on a planetary scale. It is not only available in the form of volcanoes, hot water stream but, whole earth acts as a source of geothermal energy for 365 days and all season of year. There are three basic components of geothermal heating pump system (GHPS); ground loop, geothermal heat pump and distribution system.

  • The charge to this committee—to envision the future of geotechnology— is at once a grand challenge and a problem. In many ways, geotechnology is a mature field having come to its majority in the last 50 years. Many serious problems have been solved. We know how to build strong foundations, safe dams, and stable roads and tunnels. We have a good understanding about the behavior and protection of groundwater, how to extract the petroleum resources, and develop a geothermal field.

  • Renewable Energy is energy generated from natural resources - such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat - which are naturally replenished. In 2008, about 18% of global final energy consumption came from renewables, with 13% coming from traditional biomass, such as wood burning. Hydroelectricity was the next largest renewable source, providing 3% (15% of global electricity generation), followed by solar hot water/heating, which contributed with 1.3%. Modern technologies, such as geothermal energy, wind power, solar power, and ocean energy together provided some 0.
