  • The experiment was conducted to assess the performance of ginger genotypes suitable for high yield and resistance to soft rot disease in Gudalur block of The Nilgiris district. Fourteen genotypes were collected and the performance was studied for three seasons during the year 2015 - 2018. Acc-578 showed better performance in terms of vegetative and yield characters followed by Mahima. IISR-1 GB, Maran and Thadimaran recorded moderate resistance to per cent disease incidence under field conditions in the Nilgiris.

  • Sixteen ginger (Zingiber officinale Rose.) genotypes including popular cultivars and high yielding varieties were screened in the field against the shoot borer (Conogethes punctiferalis Guen.) at the farm field of the division of Plantation, Spices, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops, College of Horticulture, Sirsi, Karnataka. All the genotypes were susceptible to the pest attack. None of the genotypes was rated as resistant, whereas, 4, 7, 5 and none of genotypes were rated as moderately resistant, moderately susceptible, susceptible and highly susceptible, respectively to the pest incidence.

  • The present investigation was conducted during rabi season 2015-16 at agriculture research block, faculty of agriculture – Rajula, MGCGVV University, Chitrkoot, satna, M.P, India.   • Character association and path analysis studies were investigated in 2016-2017 and 2017- 2018 in all physical and rhizome characters of ginger to find out the influence of characters among themselves on yield. Characters were investigated according to the DUS descriptors as described by Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, Kerala. Number of leaves had the highest positive direct effect (1.759) on yield followed by number of shoots (1.053) and rhizome thickness (0.460).
