Pomegranate is commercially propagated by cuttings. Use of optimum concentration of IBA, type of cutting and optimum rooting media would help in rapid multiplication of pomegranate cuttings. The success percent of pomegranate cuttings depends on many factors such as conditions of the mother plant, rainfall, time of operation, temperature fluctuation, aftercare etc.

Leaf spot disease (Alternaria alternata) causes severe foliar damage to niger crop. The isolates of A.alternata were collected from different location and tested for their variability in term of morphological, cultural and pathological variation viz., growth rate, colony colour, aerial mycelium colour, growth pattern, sporulation, conidial size, conidial sepation. In case of growth rate Aa1 and Aa2 was observed very fast growing it cover 70- 73 mm growth within 7 days of inoculation on PDA media.

Seed germination is the most important aspect for raising the nursery for successful seedling production of Papaya. The present study was carried out to explore the effect of different growth promoter with growing media on seed germination of Papaya. (Carica papaya L.) cv. Madhubindu under net house condition. The seeds of papaya were treated with different concentrations of GA3 and cow urine and sowing in different growing Media’s viz., Coco peat, Vermicompost and Soil. Highly significant different was observed between the treatments.

Brinjal is one of the important vegetable crops growing in India. Fruit rot brinjal caused by Alternaria alternata, Colletotrichum melongenae and Phomopsis vexans is one of the important diseases of brinjal. Hence, in this investigation, critical growth studies were done to understand the pathogen behaviour. The nutritional studies were taken up to know the best medium required for the growth and sporulation of the all three pathogens.

Impact of fly ash (FA) on germination and initial seedling growth performance of Acacia auriculiformis was studied. Growing media was prepared by mixing FA to forest soil (S) at five concentrations 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% (w/w). The experimental design was CRD with six treatments and three replications. Freshly collected seeds were treated with warm water followed by cold water and sown at 1.0-2.0 cm depth in germination trays filled with media of different treatments. Significant (P

Alternaria blight is the most common and devastating disease caused by Alternaria cucumerina var. cyamopsidis in Clusterbean. This fungus grows well in Potato dextrose agar and Tomato dextrose agar medium under in vitro conditions. The growth of the fungus was tested using fifteen different media. PDA appeared to be better than other media for the growth of Alternaria cucumerina var. cyamopsidis. The growth characteristics of the fungus such as colour of the colony and sporulation were also different in different culture media. The colony of the fungus was dark brown in colour.

The present study focused on the influence of low pH on growth, specific biochemical parameters and antioxidants amongst Nostoc strains grown under control (pH 7.0) and low pH (pH 4.5) medium. Cell dry weight, chlorophyll content, total soluble proteins and extracellular ammonia release reduced due to low pH stress of growing media compared to control grown cultures. Nitrogenase activity was reduced in two and increased in remaining strains due to low pH.

Thielaviopsis paradoxa is an ascomyceteous fast growing fungus has broad host range under tropical condition. The growth dynamics and sporulation of this pathogen have been investigated in relation to various media, physical factors like temperature and pH with significant variation among the treatments. All 12 media supported growth although with a change in their dynamics. Maximum radial growth were recorded on PDA, PSA, MEA and OMA media and the optimum temperature for growth was 30oC although the cardinal temperatures were 10oC and 40oC.

Aloe vera is one of the oldest known medicinal plant gifted by nature which is often called as „Miracle plant‟ for its versatile properties. It has valuable medicinal benefits and is commercially used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and food industries as nutraceuticals. In nature, Aloe vera is vegetatively propagated through suckers or lateral shoots which is a slow, expensive and low income practice. Sexual reproduction by seeds is also inefficient due to the presence of male sterility.

Alternaria blight of mustard caused by Alternaria brassicae (Berk.) Sacc., is one of the major diseases of Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss.]. Among the eight tested media for growth of A. brassicae, Mustard leaf extract was recorded as most suitable for growth and sporulation in all the 20 isolates of A. brassicae. This was followed by Potato dextrose agar and Cabbage leaf extract medium. The maximum mycelial growth of 88.3 mm was recorded in Mustard leaf extract after 12 days of inoculation. The isolates were grouped into 4 categories based on growth and sporulation.
