Haemorrhagic enteritis

Among the viruses, infection with canine parvovirus 2 (CPV-2) was considered as highly contagious and causes acute haemorrhagic gastroenteritis and myocarditis in dogs. In the present study, faecal samples from fourteen pups affected with canine parvoviral enteritis were subjected to detailed bacteriological examination.

The current study aimed to estimate the haemato-biochemical profile of dogs affected with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. The diagnostic confirmation was based on history, clinical sign and symptoms.

This report describes the pathomorphological findings in a Labrador dog which was presented for necropsy with a history of dullness, dehydration, severe haemorrhagic enteritis, vomition and was treated privately. Post mortem examination revealed intussusception in the jejunal region while stomach was impacted with bits and pieces of foreign body consisting of comb, malleable plastic material, ropes and hair. Intestines revealed patchy haemorrhagic areas and tear in the mucosa with intact serosa and patchy haemorrhages.

Coccidiosis is a importance disease in poultry production. The protozoan parasites of the genus Eimeria multiply in the intestinal tract and cause tissue damage, with resulting in haemorrhagic enteritis, loss of blood and death. This paper gives a glimpse on the brief review on epidemiology, transmission, clinical signs, diagnosis, control and economic losses due to coccidiosis in poultry.

Caecal coccidiosis was diagnosed in Rajasri birds of nineteen weeks age presented for routine postmortem examination at Department of Veterinary Pathology, College of Veterinary Science, Hyderabad. Clinically birds showed inappetence, depression, ruffled feathers, bloody diarrhea, anemia and mortality of about 21 birds out of 65 birds (32.3%) for a period of two weeks. Grossly, extremely ballooned caeca, white necrotic foci visible from outside of caeca, haemorrhagic enteritis, watery ingesta mixed with mucus and blood were observed.

The present study was carried out in the Division of Veterinary Pathology, FVSC&AH, SKUAST-J R.S Pura, Jammu, to study the occurrence and mortality patterns associated with various pathological conditions in various parts of Jammu.200 flocks were surveyed in different areas in and around Jammu.
