Femoral neck fracture (FNF) is a common intracapsular fracture in the elderly as a result of osteoporosis, which tends to increase with humans’ extended longevity. Regarding treatment for undisplaced FNF, internal fixation is mostly used, while primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) is used for older patients with displaced FNF because of the high rate of avascular necrosis and nonunion.

The metal-on-metal large-diameter-head (MoM-LDH) hip replacements increased in popularity during the start of the twenty-first century. Subsequently reports raised concerns regarding adverse reactions due to elevated chromium (Cr) and cobalt (Co) concentrations as well as high rates of other complications and revisions.

Dynamic hip screws (DHSs) and proximal femoral nails anti-rotation (PFNAs) are well-documented implants for stable intertrochanteric femur fractures(IFFs); however, there is no consensus regarding which type of implant is the better option for stable IFFs. This study aimed to compare DHSs with PFNAs in the management of stable intertrochanteric fractures.

Given the unexpected high rate of failure following metal-on-metal total hip replacement (MoM-THR), it is expected that more MoM-THR patients will experience revision. The long-term outcomes regarding the primary MoM-THR revised to cemented THR (CTHR) remain controversial.
