The SPH 1752 synthesized significantly higher chlorophyll content in leaves as compared to rest of genotypes. The lower HCN content in green forage was recorded in the genotype SPH 1797 as compared to other genotypes under test. The highest TSS was recorded in the genotype CSH 13. The genotype SPH 1752 exhibited maximum crude protein and crude fibre. The genotype SPV 2317 recorded maximum ether extract, nitrogen free extract and total digestible nutrient. While highest concentration of mineral ash was recorded in the genotype CSH 13.

Frenchbean, Phaseolus vulgaris L. (2n = 2x =22) is one of the most important leguminous vegetable grown for its tender fleshy green pods, shelled green seeds, and also dry beans. Cyanogenesis has been one of the important factors of plant defense mechanism. Many plants liberate HCN after mechanical or chemical injury to their cells or in course of fungal infection. The objective of current study was to correlate between the disease resistance against Anthracnose and HCN production in Frenchbean.

The 33 diverse genotypes were evaluated for mean performance, genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for yield and yield contributing characters namely plant height, number of leaves plant-1 , length of the petiole, internodal length, number of tubers plant-1 , individual tuber weight, dry matter content of the tubers, tuber length, tuber girth, tuber length diameter ratio, harvest index, leaf area, starch, HCN content, tuber yield plant-1 . Analysis of variance revealed the presence of significant differences among the genotypes for all the characters.
