Restaurant workers are at risk from exposure to toxic compounds from burning of fuel and fumes from cooking. However, the literature is almost silent on the issue. What discussion that can be found in the literature focuses on the potential effects from biomass smoke exposure in the home kitchen, and does not address the problem as occurring in the workplace, particularly in restaurants.

This study was undertaken to determine etiological agents of the otitis media and their antimicrobial susceptibility patterns. Ear swabs collected from clinically diagnosed otitis media were subjected to microbiological investigations. Their antibiogram was determined by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. Out of 248 ear swabs processed 198 (81.8%) samples showed growth of various bacteria. 113 (53.3%) gram positive and 99 (46.

Typhoid fever continues to be a global health problem, with an estimated 12 to 33 million cases occurring worldwide each year. India is an endemic country; sera of particular healthy individuals contain antibodies capable of reacting to a variable titre in Widal test due to previous stimuli. It is therefore, important to establish the antibody level in the normal population by “Widal baseline titre” in a particular locality. The serum samples are processed by Widal tube agglutination test to find out the baseline Widal titre. I

Enteric fever is a global health problem and is also endemic in India. The etiologic agents of enteric fever i.e. S. typhi and S. paratyphi occurs mostly through food-borne or waterborne transmission. Worldwide, however, there are an estimated 22 million cases of enteric fever annually, with 600,000 deaths and an estimate of the annual typhoid incidence rate of 493.5 per 100,000 person years was reported from India in 2008. The laboratory diagnosis of enteric fever is very important mainly in this post-antibiotic era.

In developed countries, there are well documented mental health impacts of HIV/AIDS and patients’ quality of life. Acquiring HIV/AIDS can be a serious psychological trauma and can predispose a person to different mental disorders. Co-occurring mental illness complicates diagnosis, help-seeking, quality of care provided, treatment outcomes and adherence. However, in Ethiopia, studies about mental health problems in HIV/AIDS treatment settings are limited.

It is clear from such a definition that unusual event de- tection entails a number of challenges. The rarity of an un- usual event means that collecting sufficient training data for supervised learning will often be infeasible, necessitating methods for learning from small numbers of examples. In addition, more than one type of unusual event may occur in a given data sequence, where the event types can be ex- pected to differ markedly from one another.

The problems of smog formation are exacerbated by a meteorological phenomenon known as thermal inversion. Under normal atmospheric conditions, warm air in the vicinity of a large city is trapped by an overlayer of cool air. Since warm gases tend to rise, they normally diffuse upward and disperse the smog and other pollutants. A thermal inversion occurs when the upper layer is a layer of warm air, while the polluted air near the ground is relatively cool. In such a situation, the pollutant-laden cool air cannot rise and disperse.
