Previous studies in the Norwegian pig breeds Landrace and Duroc have revealed a QTL for levels of skatole located in the region 74.7–80.5 Mb on SSC7. Skatole is one of the main components causing boar taint, which gives an undesirable smell and taste to the pig meat when heated.

Medical infrared thermal imaging (MITI) is a non-invasive imaging modality gaining popularity in the veterinary field. An infrared camera captures emission of heat and creates a color map in the form of a thermogram. Topical heat emission is influenced by localized disease processes as a result of autonomic nervous system imbalance.

The study presents thermal structure and active-passive tectonic parts of the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Curie point depth, heat flow map, Moho depth and sediment thickness are used for interpretation. The levelled magnetic data that obtained from the World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map (WDMAM) is used. The magnetic anomaly is divided into 39 zones for Curie point depth estimation. The Curie point depth values are calculated into Fourier domain. Then heat flow map is generated. The estimated Curie point depth values are ranging from 4.5 km to 25 km.

Knowledge of heat flow density on the Earth’s surface and subsurface temperature distribution is essential for the interpretation of several processes in the crust such as for the evaluation of the geothermal potential of a region. With this study, we investigate the conductive heat flow distribution in western Anatolia to understand the thermal state and its relationship to regional tectonics in the region. The new heat flow data are collected and combined with previously published data to obtain the new heat flow map of western Anatolia.

It is of utmost importance to understand and monitor the impact of urban heat islands on ecosystems and overall human health in the context of climate change and global warming. This research was conducted in a tropical city, Hanoi, with a major objective of assessing the quantitative relationships between the composition of the main land-cover types and surface urban heat island phenomenon.

Association of SSR markers with functional traits from heat stress in diverse tall fescue accessions
Heat stress is a critical threat to tall fescue in transitional and warm climate zones. Identification of association between molecular markers and heat tolerance-related functional traits would promote the efficient selection of heat tolerant tall fescue cultivars.

Highly tensile manganese steel is in great demand owing to its high tensile strength under shock loads. All workpieces are produced through casting, because it is highly difficult to machine. The probabilistic aspects of its casting, its variable composition, and the different casting techniques must all be considered for the optimisation of its mechanical properties. A hybrid strategy is therefore proposed which combines decision trees and artificial neural networks (ANNs) for accurate and reliable prediction models for ore crushing plate lifetimes.

The article describes a pre-experimental research study that focuses on learning objects. Web objects that capture the attention of users and that characterize the content of a website were examined. The main goal was to identify the most relevant design of three web objects by using the eye-tracking tool Areas of Interest and feedback questioning as research methods. Eye tracking was used to gather data about students’ learning activity and questioning to gather students’ learning achievements.

This paper proposes an interpretation of the Bouguer gravity and magnetic anomaly map of the Yozgat Batholith and its surrounding area (north central Anatolia) for determination of crustal and geothermal structures. In the study area, the Moho and Conrad depths based on a relationship between Bouguer gravity anomaly and seismically determined crustal thickness were estimated as 34–39 km and 19.5–21.5 km, respectively.

With a solid understanding of the company, its objectives and inherent risks, the auditor must consider the possible impact of the various risks on the achievement of business objectives and the likelihood of their occurrence. By considering both the impact of key risks and the likelihood of occurrence, a risk profile of the organisation can be developed. The risk profile is presented to management and the audit committee using a colour-coded heat map that identifies high, moderate and low risk areas.

In this research, remote sensing technology was used to evaluate urban development and its thermal characteristics through mapping impervious surfaces and evaluating thermal infrared images. The study is carried out in the northern part of Ho Chi Minh City, which is experienced an accelerated urban development since the end of 1980s. Landsat and Aster images were used to calculate the variation in urban impervious surfaces from 1989 to 2006. Thermal bands were processed to obtain land surface temperatures for investigating the urban heat island effect...
