Ebook "The inorganic radiochemistry of heavy elements: Methods for studying gaseous compounds" is about the physico-chemical basis of the experimental methods and techniques which are or can be used for compounds of all heavy metals; about evaluation of the desorption energies from the original gas-solid chromatography data; and about concepts and approaches which allow to estimate bulk properties of the compounds even from experiments with a few short-lived atoms.

A new method based on the combination of carrier element-free coprecipitation and flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination has been investigated for simultaneous separation and preconcentration of Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions in some environmental solid and liquid samples. The 2-{3-(4-methylbenzyl)-4-[2-(1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl}-N’-(phenylmethylene) acetohydrazide (MITA) was utilized as an organic coprecipitating agent without using a carrier element for coprecipitation of the analyte ions.

Domestic water system of Thai Nguyen city originates from Nui Coc lake which has an area of 25km2 . In fact, due to these original areas that have many metal mines, such as tin, lead, zinc, vonfram,..., the content of heavy metal in the water resource raises need for concern. Therefore, we evaluated the content of some elements: Cr, Mn, Cu, Cd, Pb, Hg in the water resource of Nui Coc lake, Tich Luong lake and the domestic water system of Thai Nguyen city to compare with the Vietnamese standard of maximum acceptable heavy metal content in drinking water.

The aim of this study was to determine natural radioactive and heavy element concentrations in Mersin drinking water samples before the commissioning of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and to collect data for possible environmental contaminations in the future. Drinking water samples were taken from the provincial center, districts, and populated villages. The annual effective dose of natural radionuclides and cancer risks were calculated for each person living in the city. Hazard index and cancer risk were calculated, which were caused by heavy elements.

This study, tAs is the only element that needs to be further investigated from the relatively high concentration in agricultural soil samples. There were seven out of eight rice samples which had the As level exceeded the Codex standard for polished rice, the inorganic Arsenic (iAs) is also needed to be analyzed for further conclusion.

Heavy metal is a general technical term that applies to the group of metals and metalloids with density greater than 4±1 g cm-3 or elements having atomic weight more than 20. Heavy metals are considered toxic to living organisms and even trace metals that are considered essential for life can be toxic when present at excessive level, impair important biochemical process and also pose threat to human health, plant growth and animal life. The heavy metals, As, Cd, Cr, Ni and Pb were found accumulated in seeds collected from various sites.

Chicken eggs are one of the main sources of protein but if contaminated by toxic heavy metals due to industrial waste, geochemical structures and agricultural activities is a serious problem for environmental and human health. The aim of our study is focused on evaluating the trace elements level in eggs that collected from the retail outlets in and around Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. The concentrations of As, Cr, Cu, Cd, Mn, Ni, Pb and Fe were measured using Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometry.

This study was done to recognize the capacity of C. demersum for different concentrations of lead element in lab aqueous ecosystem. The concentrations of 10, 20 and 30 ppm were used in three replications for each concentration for 30 days. The results showed that the plant can remove 30 ppm of Pb. Significant differences were found in removing capacity by plant for Pb, in all concentrations 10, 20, 30 during experiment period. There was accumulation in the stem more than the leaf. The highest removal ratio for Pb in the stem was 10.25 ppm, 9.

In this paper, a model is presented for predicting the transport of an environmental pollutant from the source to and through the soil. The model can predict the deposition of an environmental pollutant on the soil surface due to the pollutant being loaded on dust particles, which are later deposited on the soil surface.

More than 12 • 109 m3 /year of Nile Delta drainage water is annually discharged into the Mediterranean Sea. El-Salam (peace) canal, having a mixture of such drainage water and the Nile water (1:1 ratio), crosses the Suez canal eastward to the deserts of north Sinai. The suitability of the canal water for agriculture is reported here.

Consideration is given to the possibility to use changes in buoyancy as a negative reactivity feedback mechanism during temperature transients in heavy liquid metal fast reactors. It is shown that by the proper use of heavy pellets in the fuel elements, fuel rods could be endowed with a passive self-ejection mechanism and then with a negative feedback.
