In this study, the simultaneous determination of Co, Cd, Ni, Cu, and Pb was carried out as a color complex with 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol in an aqueous solution under the assesting of machine learning. A partial least-squares multivariate linear regression and artificial neuron network for the analysis of mixtures of metals were developed. MATLAB is a powerful software machine learning program that was used to support matrix calculations and displays.

The presence of various types of contaminants such as heavy metals, emerging organic contaminants, pesticides, organic waste, organic dyes, radionuclide’s, fluorides, etc. cause water pollution. These pollutants are of concern to engineers, environmentalists and scientists. Due to the lack of freshwater, it is very important to recycle the wastewater after treatment to remove organic contaminates and heavy metal pollutants.

Carbon dots (CDs) are zero dimensional carbonaceous nanomaterials showing tremendous physicochemical and optical properties, synthesized from any organic precursors rich in carbon content. Due to their greater biocompatibility, non-toxicity, and tiny particle size up to 10 nm, CDs have numerous applications in the field of nano-sensing, bio-imaging, solar energy, light-emitting devices, photo-catalysis etc.

The adsorption of Cu(II) ions from aqueous solution onto alginic acid has been investigated based on the establishment of a relationship among pH, conductivity and the concentration of metal ion. It was shown that the adsorption of this metal ion onto alginic acid followed the pseudo-second-order reaction and was conducted by ion exchange mechanism.

This research is related to the effect of alginate-containing composite biosorbent on the sorption capacity of heavy metal Cd2+ ions. The study aims to determine the character and optimization of the sorption of Na-alginate-containing composite biosorbent on the sorption of heavy metal Cd2+ metal ions in an aqueous solution. The results suggested that composite biosorbent is suitable as a sorbent material for recovery and sorption of metal ions from aqueous solutions.

GO-NH2 (amino functionalized graphene oxide) was synthesized by grafting (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane onto the surface GO (graphene oxide). The GO-NH2with a higher surface area and many active sites was characterized and its effectiveness in removing Rhod B dye and Ni(II) ions from wastewater by adsorption was observed. The effects of pH, time, and strange ions on the adsorption efficiency were investigated.

A new method based on the combination of carrier element-free coprecipitation and flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination has been investigated for simultaneous separation and preconcentration of Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions in some environmental solid and liquid samples. The 2-{3-(4-methylbenzyl)-4-[2-(1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl}-N’-(phenylmethylene) acetohydrazide (MITA) was utilized as an organic coprecipitating agent without using a carrier element for coprecipitation of the analyte ions.

The composite adsorbent exhibited an excellent adsorption capacity towards three types of ions and heavy metals that are found in acid sulfate water. After treating with agarose/MgO, the concentrations of Fe and Al decreased from 60.28 and 604.84 µg/l, respectively, to under 3.42 and 1.78 µg/l, respectively. These exceptional results reveal the potential uses of agarose/MgO composites as adsorbents in the treatment of acid sulfate water.

Adsorption processes of Cd(II) and Pb(II) from aqueous solutions onto pumice stone powder (PSP) were investigated in batch mode. The influences of solution pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage, initial metal (M) concentration, and temperature on adsorption process were investigated. The kinetic and isotherm data were analysed using different model equations. The adsorption process was consistent with the Langmuir model for both metal ions with high R2 and low χ2 values for both Pb(II) and Cd(II). The maximum monolayer adsorption capacities were 28.09 and 27.
