  • In addition to the physical parameters such as magnetization intensity distribution, the volume and the shape of the magnetized material, directions of the magnetization and the ambient field, the distance between the observation surface and the causative sources significantly affects the shape and the amplitudes of the magnetic anomalies. Aeromagnetic surveys are performed using either a draped surface or a constant elevation plane above sea level. These surveys can easily reconnoiter large territories in a short time.

  • Loss of function or gain of function variants of Filamin B (FLNB) cause recessive or dominant skeletal disorders respectively. Spondylocarpotarsal synostosis syndrome (SCT) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by short stature, fused vertebrae and fusion of carpal and tarsal bones. We present a novel FLNB homozygous pathogenic variant and present a carrier of the variant with short height.

  • To explore the influencing factors of perioperative hidden blood loss in intertrochanteric fractures. We undertook a retrospective analysis from January 2016 to October 2019. Clinical data of 118 patients with intertrochanteric fractures were included. Hidden blood loss was calculated from the haematocrit changes before and after surgery using the Gross equation based on height, weight, and haematocrit (HCT) changes before and after surgery.

  • Lumbar disc degeneration seen on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is defined as loss of signal intensity and/or disc height, alone or in combination with other MRI findings. The MRI findings and thresholds used to define disc degeneration vary in the literature, and their associations with low back pain (LBP) remain uncertain.

  • An experiment was carried out during the year 2014-15 to 2016-17 in the polyhouse of AINP on Agricultural Acarology to estimate the losses due two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Tetranychidae: Acari). The estimated loss in brinjal due to two spotted spider mite, T. urticae on different plant growth characters like plant height, number of branches per plant, number of fruits per plant and fruit weight ranging between 8.24 to 33.65, 7.84 to 13.35, 26.94 to 64.93 and 15.29 to 81.10 per cent, respectively.

  • Weirs are overflow structures used to measure flow or to control the water elevation. In sharp crested weirs sharp edge in the crest causes the water to spring clear of the crest and thus accurate measurements can be made and results beneficial to tail end farms in a field channel. Hence, sharp crested weirs are used for experimentation. The research project was envisaged with the following objectives to develop sharp crested rectangular weirs with 30°, 45° and 60° edge angles.

  • Powdery mildew and Rust are major diseases of pea of worldwide distribution. Powdery mildew and Rust is an airborne disease. Powdery mildew is a particularly damaging in late sowing or in late maturity varieties. It is caused by Erysisphe pisi. The disease can cause 20-50% yield losses, reducing total yield biomass, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, plant height and number of nodes. The disease also affects green pea quality. Pea rust is characterized by the appearance of two types of symptoms.

  • An experiment was laid out with two treatments viz., unprotected and protected plot with plot size of 100 m2 each and further each treatment was divided into 13 quadrates with 30 X 10 cm spacing in Randomised Block Design (RBD). Results revealed that the avoidable reduction in plant height, number of branches per plant, pods per plant, number of seeds per pod due to insecticides application is 19.14, 19.78, 20.70 and 17.80 per cent respectively and a significantly higher yield was obtained in protected plots i.e. 1028 kg ha-1 , while, comparatively low yield i.e.

  • Chickpea is a cool season pulse and suffers severe yield losses when exposed to higher temperatures during reproductive phase. Stable chickpea production will depend on the release of new cultivars with improved adaptation to drought and high temperature. Twenty five breeding lines of two crosses JG 11 x JG 14 and JAKI 9218 x JG 14 were assessed under timely and late sown situations. High variability was observed for majority of the traits in both the seasons.

  • Lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus) is an important winter season grain legume crop, mostly grown on residual soil moisture and is frequently subjected to terminal drought and heat stress, that results in low and variable seed yields. Moreover, delay in sowing even for two weeks causes the reproductive and grain filling phase of this crop to coincide with a period of substantially high temperature resulting in yield losses by reduced seed set, seed weight and accelerated senescence.

  • Numerical simulation have been carried out to observe and predict the mechanisms of stationary mixed flows in a free surface channel combined with a closed conduit. This study has been conducted with a wide range of discharge values, based on a free rectangular channel (4.5x0.98x0.50 m) at the upstream combined with a closed rectangular conduit (4.5 m length), located at the end of the channel. The height of the conduit is fixed at 100 mm and the conduit width is varied to form several other geometrical configurations.
