  • Ebook "Foodborne parasites (Second edition)" covers the parasites most associated with foodborne transmission and therefore of greatest global public health relevance. The volume examines protozoa and their subgroups: the amoeba, coccidia, flagellates and ciliates. Chapters also address Trypanosoma cruzi, recently recognized as an emerging foodborne protozoan. The helminth section is expanded to cover teniasis, cysticercosis, hydatidosis, and the trematodes and nematodes including Angiostrongylus, which is present worldwide.

  • Ebook "Neuropeptide systems as targets for parasite and pest control" was assembled to focus attention on this promising field by compiling a comprehensive review of recent research on neuropeptides in arthropods and helminths, with contributions from many of the leading laboratories working on these systems. The need to continually discover new agents for the control or treatment of invertebrate pests and pathogens is undeniable. Agriculture, both animal and plant, succeeds only to the extent that arthropod and helminth consumers, vectors and pathogens can be kept at bay.

  • Soil-transmitted helminths caused millions of morbidity of preschool age children in sub-Saharan Africa with low socio-economic status and lack of clean water and sanitation. In Ethiopia, nearly half of children are affected by intestinal parasites. Despite this prevalence, deworming medication utilization among preschool age children is low.

  • The present study, carried out from September 2018 to August 2019, reports the seasonal fluctuations in the intensity of infection level of helminth parasites in the silver carp, Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, reared along with native carps in ponds and other water bodies of Darbhanga , Bihar, India. The host fish were found to parasitize two monogenean ecto-parasites, Dactylogyrus vastator (in gill & skin) and Gyrodactylus elegans (in skin); one cestode (Bothriocephalus acheilognathi in intestine) and one nematode (Camallanus ophiocephali in stomach).

  • Clinical parasitism occurs less frequently in goats, however, the parasites of the stomach and intestine could lead to scouring, dehydration, anemia, depression and eventually death. The incidence of gastro-intestinal helminthic and protozoan parasites was identified by coprological survey made in diarrhoeic goats brought to the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex (TVCC), Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal. The study revealed the incidence of gastrointestinal parasites predominantly by Eimeria spp. and Strongylus spp. followed by Moniezia spp., Strongyloides spp.

  • Strongyloides stercoralis is a soil transmitted helminth and one among the under recognised tropical parasitic diseases. It is undoubtedly known that it causes hyperinfection and disseminated disease in people with any form of compromise in their immunity. On the other hand, here we report an adult male who is notimmunocompromised but still tends to have hyperinfection syndrome.

  • Trichuris ovis is one of the prevalent and non-pathogenic nematode of sheep. The whole anterior part of T. ovis remains embedded in the caecal mucosa of sheep with any marked inflammatory reaction. Helminth parasites evade host immune response by acquiring some host proteins or by mimicry of host antigens. The present study was conducted to explore any molecular mimicry between the T. ovis and sheep.
