This paper presents a control approach for the double inverted pendulum on a cart (DIPC) by combining Hierarchical Sliding Mode Control (HSMC) and Disturbance Observer (DOB). The proposed method utilizes HSMC to ensure balance in both the pendulum angles and a cart position, while the DOB accurately estimates the system's disturbance.

This paper analysed the real-world driving data to determine the representative parameters of driving cycle for the purpose of the typical driving cycle development of bus in Hanoi. The realworld driving data of bus in Hanoi were collected by using the Global positioning system technique with 1Hz data update rate. The real-world driving data of fifteen bus routes in the inner city were collected continuously, on weekdays as well as at weekends. The data, then, were used to calculate 33 kinematics parameters reflecting the realistic driving characteristics, including vehicle-specific power.

Food predilection is linked to variants in the hepatokine ‘‘Fibroblast Growth Factor-21” gene (FGF21); with rs838133 linked to the sweet tooth in Caucasians. The effect of FGF21 variants on food intake is still unclear in other populations. A cohort of 196 healthy Emirati subjects was investigated [age: 30.34 ± 9. 75yrs (44.4% males)]. The FGF21 rs838133 and rs838145 were genotyped. The daily intake was calculated based on a 61-item food frequency questionnaire.

Salinity tolerance genotypes is useful to cross with high yielding existing varieties to develop high yield hybrid that can grow in saline soil and saline water conditions. The different species of Brassica namely, B. juncea, B. carinata, B. napus B. campestris var toria were screened for salt tolerance and tolerant genotypes were identified. This paper presents a detailed study of the integration of knowledge from both dependency parses and hierarchical word ontologies into a maximum-entropy-based tagging model that simultaneously labels words with both syntax and semantics. Our findings show that information from both these sources can lead to strong improvements in overall system accuracy: dependency knowledge improved performance over all classes of word, and knowledge of the position of a word in an ontological hierarchy increased accuracy for words not seen in the training data. ...

This paper proposes a novel hierarchical learning strategy to deal with the data sparseness problem in relation extraction by modeling the commonality among related classes. For each class in the hierarchy either manually predefined or automatically clustered, a linear discriminative function is determined in a topdown way using a perceptron algorithm with the lower-level weight vector derived from the upper-level weight vector.
