Calcium channel blocker overdose is usually very fatal and challenging to manage. The patients are usually asymptomatic on admission, but deteriorate very rapidly. Currently, there is no specific antidote, and the treatment is supportive requiring high level of critical care, and may necessitate extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. The use of high-dose insulin is reported to help stabilize the blood pressure and wean off inotropes.

The purpose of this study was to examine the development of NMSC between adults who did and did not use HCTZ, as well as those with high and low sun exposure. Keratinocyte cancer (KC) rates are increasing in the U.S., particularly in older age groups. Use of hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), due to its photosensitizing properties, and high sun exposure are two known NMSC risk factors, but their synergistic efects are undetermined.

The incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) remains high after partial nephrectomy. Ischemiareperfusion injury produced by renal hilum clamping during surgery might have contributed to the development of AKI. In this study we tested the hypothesis that goal-directed fluid and blood pressure management may reduce AKI in patients following partial nephrectomy.

Health beneficial effect of pomegranate is mainly due to its confirmed high antioxidant capacity and polyphenolic content. In recent years, experimental and clinical studies have shown that pomegranate intake lowers blood pressure. Potassium and other minerals such as calcium and magnesium may be responsible for this property. In this study, a rapid, economic, reliable, and applicable capillary electrophoresis method was proposed with contactless conductivity detection for the quantitative determination of six cations in different pomegranate juices.
