Public parks in cities, with most of their area being green areas, play an important role not only in balancing the living environment, but also in contributing to the minimisation of flood risks through absorption and the storing of water. This creates the motivation to restore, maintain and develop green areas in inner cities, especially in centralised areas, which have a high level of urbanisation potentially associated with a shortage of such green-lands.

Splenic ectopic pregnancy is extremely rare but carries a high risk of life-threatening intraperitoneal bleeding. Here, we present a 40-year-old woman presenting with vaginal bleeding. Although the intrauterine device (IUD) had been in place for 6 years, urinary and serum tests were positive for pregnancy.

This study aimed to assess lower limb strength and some related factors among older people with dementia examined and treated at the National Geriatric Hospital. Three-quarters of older dementia patients have impaired lower limb strength. Our results highlighted that diabetes, and geriatric syndromes such as malnutrition, high fall risk, dependence, and partial dependence were significantly associated with lower limb strength in older patients with dementia.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is a gynecological malignancy tumor with high recurrence and mortality rates. Programmed cell death (PCD) is an essential regulator in cancer metabolism, whose functions are still unknown in OC. Therefore, it is vital to determine the prognostic value and therapy response of PCD-related genes in OC.

Genome stability is maintained by the DNA damage repair (DDR) system composed of multiple DNA repair pathways of hundreds of genes. Germline pathogenic variation (PV) in DDR genes damages function of the affected DDR genes, leading to genome instability and high risk of diseases, in particular, cancer.

Autologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT) remains a beneficial approach for patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) in the age of novel therapeutic agents. Nevertheless, limited real-world data is available to establish criteria for identifying high-risk ASCT patients.

Phyllodes tumor (PT) is an fibroepithelial tumor with potential for local recurrence. The optimal margin for surgical resection of PT is still debated, particularly in cases of positive margins. This study aimed to identify the risk factors for phyllodes tumor recurrence and the effect of a free margin on tumor recurrence by considering these risk factors.

Chemoradiotherapy is a critical treatment for patients with locally advanced and unresectable nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and it is essential to identify high-risk patients as early as possible owing to the high incidence of radiation pneumonitis (RP). This study aimed to investigate the value of computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics combined with genomics in analyzing the risk of grade≥2 RP in unresectable stage III NSCLC.

LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and/or intersex) communities are increasingly recognized as a vulnerable and high-risk population in oncology. LGBTQI cancer carers, including carers who are LGBTQI and other carers of LGBTQI people, experience many of the same stressors as LGBTQI patients but their support needs are often overlooked in the cancer literature.

Along with the social and economic challenges posed by an aging society, creating work conditions that allow persons to stay healthy and work into old age has become a major task of Western societies. Retaining employment after returning to work is particularly difficult for individuals with a disability, as evidenced by the high rate of premature labor market dropout.

Checkpoint inhibitors (CPIs) are widely used in cancer treatment, with transformative impacts on survival. They nonetheless carry a significant risk of toxicity in the form of immune-related adverse events (IrAEs), which may be sustained and life-altering. IrAEs may require high-dose and/or prolonged steroid use and represent a significant healthcare burden.

Although radical surgical resection is the most effective treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the high rate of postoperative recurrence remains a major challenge, especially in patients with alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)-negative HCC who lack effective biomarkers for postoperative recurrence surveillance. In this study, we propose to develop a radiomics model based on preoperative CECT to predict the risk of early recurrence after surgery in AFP-negative HCC.
