  • The use of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in sol-gel synthesized titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalysts as templates was systematically studied. CNTs have high oxidative thermal stability and the controlled removal of CNTs can be achieved at lower temperatures under air flow by the use of Na, Fe, and Co as a catalyst. These catalysts helped to reduce the oxidation temperature of CNTs; thus anatase phase was achieved without significant sintering.

  • Crystallinity could have a decisive influence on photocatalytic performance. In this study, the synthesis of crystalline carbon nitride (CN) was studied via an ionic melt polycondensation of urea precursor in the presence of various salt melts, which were KCl-LiCl, KCl-NaCl, and KCl-ZnCl2. While all the salt melts helped to improve the optical properties of the CN, only KCl-LiCl salt melt could form crystalline CN as evidenced by its X-ray diffraction pattern.

  • The present paper aimed at the investigation of the effect of preliminary acid treatment on the structure and purity of extracted silica. In this study, the acid leaching of rice husk (RH) in 2 M hydrochloric acid solution before the calcination process at 600◦C was proposed to achieve completely white silica with high specific surface area and low content of impurities. RH, selected from the Almaty Region, Kyzylorda Region, and Turkestan Region was used as the main silica source. The results confirmed that the highest purity (98.2%–99.

  • In this work, metal nanoparticles were successfully synthesized through the reduction of metal salts using reducing agents such as: ethylene glycol (EG) and sodium borohydride (NaBH4). These metal nanoparticles were impregnated into the supports M-X (M = Ni, Pd; X = Bent, C, Zeolite, and Al2O3) in high yield. The physio-chemical properties of these catalysts were characterized by various techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the specific surface area of M-X was evaluated by N2 adsorption isotherm analysis at 77 K.
