  • Scalar field systems containing higher derivatives are studied and quantized by Hamiltonian path integral formalism. A new point to previous quantization methods is that field functions and their time derivatives are considered as independent canonical variables. Consequently, generating functional, explicit expressions of propagators and Feynman diagrams in φ3 theory are found.

  • In this volume I present some examples of Description of Surfaces, Partial Derivatives, Gradient, Directional Derivatives and Taylor’s Formula, cf. also Calculus 2b, Functions of Several Variables. Since my aim also has been to demonstrate some solution strategy I have as far as possible structured the examples according to the following form A Awareness, i.e. a short description of what is the problem. D Decision, i.e. a reflection over what should be done with the problem. I Implementation, i.e. where all the calculations are made. C Control, i.e. a test of the result....

  • If the text you're using for general chemistry seems to lack sufficient mathematics and physics in its presentation of classical mechanics, molecular structure, and statistics, this complementary science series title may be just what you're looking for. Written for the advanced lower-division undergraduate chemistry course, The Physical Basis of Chemistry, Second Edition, offers students an opportunity to understand and enrich the understanding of physical chemistry with some quantum mechanics, the Boltzmann distribution, and spectroscopy.

  • Module II is the second course in the C++ Programming for Game Developers series. Recall that in Module I we started off by studying fundamental programming concepts like variables, console input and output, arrays, conditional statements, strings, loops, and file input and output. We then pursued higher level programming methodologies such as classes, object oriented programming design, operator overloading, inheritance, and polymorphism. By now you should feel competent with the fundamentals and at least comfortable with the higher level subject matter...

  • The calculation of indirect and induced (multiplier) impacts is made on the basis of input-output (I-O) accounting tables. These matrices show the pattern of purchases and sales between industries in the economy. Base tables are constructed at a national level, and tables for smaller regions are derived by regionalizing the core BEA tables to reflect inter-regional purchasing patterns.

  • EXISTENCE AND UNIQUENESS OF SOLUTIONS OF HIGHER-ORDER ANTIPERIODIC DYNAMIC EQUATIONS ALBERTO CABADA AND DOLORES R. VIVERO Received 8 October 2003 and in revised form 9 February 2004 We prove existence and uniqueness results in the presence of coupled lower and upper solutions for the general nth problem in time scales with linear dependence on the ith ∆derivatives for i = 1,2,...,n, together with antiperiodic boundary value conditions. Here the nonlinear right-hand side of the equation is defined by a function f (t,x) which is rd-continuous in t and continuous in x uniformly in t.

  • On the theoretical side, the available inflationary models may be also evaluated with respect to their “cost”, ie. against what one gets from a given model in relation to what one puts in! Our approach does not introduce new fields, beyond those already present in gravity and supergravity. We also exploit (super)gravity interactions only,ie. do not introduce new interactions, in order to describe inflation. Before going into details, let me address two common prejudices and objections.

  • Income tax rates are at the center of many recent policy debates over taxes. Some policymakers argue that raising tax rates, especially on higher income taxpayers, to increase tax revenues is part of the solution for long-term debt reduction. For example, in the 112th Congress the Senate passed the Middle Class Tax Cut (S. 3412), which would allow the 2001 and 2003 Bush-era tax cuts to expire for taxpayers with income over $250,000 ($200,000 for single taxpayers). Other policymakers argue that maintaining low tax rates is necessary to foster economic growth.

  • As deregulation and liberalisation has led to the emergence of global financial markets, banks expanded their international operations and moved into multiple lines of financial business. They developed complex risk management strategies that have allowed them to price financial products and hedge their risk exposures in a manner that improves expected profits, but which may generate more risk and increase liquidity problems in certain circumstances.

  • Proponents of fiscal stimulus see the direct effects of the stimulus as fostering growth. Government spending, for example on infrastructure or education, directly employs people and also provides paychecks that will mostly be spent by the workers hired, creating additional demand and employment. Transfer payments like unemployment benefits or tax cuts also put money into people’s pockets, much of which will typically be spent, thereby creating demand and jobs.

  • The citric acid or tricarboxylic acid cycle is a central element of higher-plant carbon metabolism which provides, among other things, electrons for oxidative phosphorylation in the inner mitochondrial membrane, intermediates for aminoacid biosynthesis, and oxaloacetate for gluconeogenesis from succinate derived from fatty acids via the glyoxylate cycle in glyoxysomes. The tricarboxylic acid cycle is a typical mitochondrial pathway and is widespread among a-proteobacteria, the group of eubacteria as de®ned under rRNA systematics from which mitochondria arose. ...

  • Prokaryotes, yeasts and plants synthesize thiamin (vitamin B1) via complex pathways. Animal cells capture the vitamin through specific high-affinity transporters essential for internal thiamin homeostasis. Inside the cells, thi-amin is phosphorylated to higher phosphate derivatives. Thiamin diphos-phate (ThDP) is the best-known thiamin compound because of its role as an enzymatic cofactor.
