  • A field experiment was conducted to assess the effect of seeding methods and weed management practices on yield of aerobic rice and nutrient removal by the weeds under direct seeded aerobic rice. Among the seeding methods line sowing increased the grain yield than the broadcasting method. Among weed management all the weed management practices were found to be equally effective in reducing the uptake of nutrient by weeds and producing higher grain yield as compare to weedy check. However maximum yield was obtained with the application of Pretilachlor 0.

  • A field experiment was carried out during kharif 2009-2010 at instructional farm, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh to evaluate the suitable integrated weed management (IWM) practices for soybean. Result indicated that main weed flora was Cyperus rotundus L. integration of and its weed infestation was maximum from sowing to the harvesting of soybean. Integration of herbicides like Pendimethalin @ 0.750 kg ha-1 preemergence + 1HW and IC at 20 DAS recorded significant reducing in weed dry matter and higher weed control efficiency resulting in higher yield.

  • A field experiment was conducted during the winter season of 2016-17 and 2017-18 at Agricultural Research Station (MPUAT), Banswara (Rajasthan), India to find out effective weed management strategy for enhancing the economical return of winter maize under humid condition of Southern Rajasthan. Ten treatment combinations of pre-emergence (atrazine), post-emergence (halosulfuron, 2, 4-D, tembotrione and topramezone) herbicides with weed free and weedy check laid out in randomized block design with three replications. Results revealed that pre-emergence application of atrazine 50 WP @ 0.

  • The crop productivity has been reached to the stagnation and there is no increase in the yield even at higher doses of fertilizers. The need of pacing up with the increase food demand with crop production is urgent for countries like India. To achieve this more focus is needed over the transition zone production system. In Bangalore north and south transact are at dynamic state in terms of production system and can be categorised as rural, urban and transition zone.

  • A field experiment was conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during kharif 2015 to investigate the influence of intercropping systems and weed management practices on weed density, dry weight and weed control efficiency in maize under irrigated condition. The experiment was laid out in split plot design and replicated thrice. Three intercropping systems viz., maize alone (I1), maize + blackgram (1:1 ratio) (I2) and maize + blackgram (2:2 ratio) (I3) were evaluated under main plot and four weed management practices viz., unweeded check (Control) 9 (W1), Pendimethalin 0.

  • A field experiment was carried out at Agricultural Research Station, Kota, Rajasthan during rainy (Kharif) season of 2016 and 2017, to evaluate bio efficacy of bentazone against major weeds of rice grown in direct seeded condition of south eastern Rajasthan. Treatments included post emergence application of bentazone @ 0.6 to 1.6 kg a.i/ha, 2,4 D@ 0.38 kga.i/ha, hand weeding twice (20 and 40 DAS) and weedy check, was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The pooled data of two years revealed that application of bentazone @ 1.2 kg a.

  • A field experiment was conducted on clay loam soil during kharif, 2017 at Instructional Agronomy Farm, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur to find out the effect of herbicides and their tank mix application on weed dynamics, growth and yield of maize. The post-emergence tank mix application of atrazine 0.5 kg/ha + tembotrione 0.125 kg/ha at 15 DAS reduced weed density, weed dry matter and improved weed control efficiency of monocot, dicot and total weed at 60 DAS. The maximum number of cob/plant (1.47), cob weight/plant (154.94 g) and weight of grain/cob (119.
