Evaluation of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpression caused by erbb2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ERBB2) amplification (AMP) by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is essential for treating unresectable metastatic gastric cancer (GC).

Gastric cancer is among the most lethal human malignancies. Previous studies have identified molecular aberrations that constitute dynamic biological networks and genomic complexities of gastric tumors. However, the clinical translation of molecular-guided targeted therapy is hampered by challenges. Notably, solid tumors often harbor multiple genetic alterations, complicating the development of effective treatments.

Viral and bacterial infections are involved in the development of human cancers, such as liver, nasopharyngeal, cervical, head and neck, and gastric cancers. Aberrant DNA methylation is frequently present in these cancers, and some of the aberrantly methylated genes are causally involved in cancer development and progression.

Ebook "The biology of gastric cancers" represents the very first volume devoted to the subject of the basic biology of gastric cancer. Although there were major achievements 30–40 years ago in the description of the histopathology of stomach tumors and the preneoplastic conditions that preceded these lesions, it was of course the pioneering (and Nobel prize– winning) studies involving the discovery of Helicobacter pylori by Marshall and Warren that set the stage for the more recent insights on the role of chronic inflammation and cancer.

Gastric cancer is the most fifth common tumor worldwide. Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpression is associated with poor prognosis and clinical characteristics in gastric cancer. Nevertheless, the biology of HER2-low expression has not reported in gastric cancer.

Accumulating evidence has revealed that the gut microbiota influences the effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in cancer patients. As a part of the human microbiome, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) was reported to be associated with reduced effectiveness of anti-PD1 immunotherapy in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

This study aimed to explore the efficiency and safety of the new generation antibody-drug conjugate Trastuzumab deruxtecan (DS-8201a) in treating HER2-positive solid cancers. By searching PubMed, Medline and Ovid for all clinical trials related to the safety and efficacy of DS-8201a. Event rates were calculated for all adverse events (AEs) to evaluate the safety of DS-8201a. Objective response rate (ORR) and progression-free survival (PFS) were summarized to assess the potency of DS-8201a.

Design, synthesis, and in vitro antitumor activity of 6-aryloxyl substituted quinazoline derivatives
Quinazoline derivatives are a class of important antitumor drugs known as small molecule inhibitors that include epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors. Based on the structure of poziotinib, a series of 6-aryloxyl substituted quinazoline derivatives were designed and synthesized. The molecular docking results suggested that compound 4m has different binding modes to the wild-type and mutated EGFR.

RNA cargo in exosomes, especially microRNAs (miRNAs), play an important role in the chemotherapy drug resistance of human cancers. However, the role and mechanism of exosomal miR-107 on multidrug resistance of gastric cancer cells was still not clear. In this study, we sought to explore whether exosomal miR-107 could reverse the resistance of gastric cancer cells to the chemotherapy drugs.

Cancer is one of the main global health problems. In order to develop novel antitumor agents, we synthesized 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-one (DHPM) and 2,6-diaryl-substituted pyridine derivatives as potential antitumor structures and evaluated their cytotoxic effects against several cancer cell lines. An easy and convenient method is reported for the synthesis of these derivatives, employing cobalt ferrite (CoFe 2 O4 @SiO2 -SO3 H) magnetic nanoparticles under microwave irradiation and solvent-free conditions.

LncRNA WT1-AS is a recently identified potential tumor suppressor in gastric cancer. This study mainly explored the role of WT1-AS in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Therefore, WT1-AS over-expression may inhibit non-small cell lung cancer cell stemness by downregulating TGF-β1.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a threat to human health with increasing incidence and mortality worldwide. Down-regulation or absence of RAF kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) was associated with the occurrence, differentiation, invasion, and metastasis of GC. This study aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms and biological functions of RKIP in the GC biology.
