This paper presents the preparation and characterization of carrageenan/chitosan particles loading αmangostin - an active compound extracted from mangosteen fruit peels. The carrageenan/chitosan/α-mangostin particles were prepared by ionic gelation method in the presence of sodium tripolyphosphate as a cross-linking agent and potassium chloride as a gel agent.

Two commercially available microneedle rollers with a needle length of 200 μm and 300 μm were selected to examine the influence of microneedle pretreatment on the percutaneous permeation of four non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (diclofenac, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, paracetamol) with different physicochemical drug characteristics in Franz-type diffusion cells.

The current study focuses on designing biodegradable transferosomal hydrogel using lignans and bio surfactant for transdermal applications. In the study, the lignans concentrate (LC) was extracted from flaxseeds and used to prepare vesicular transferosomes/transferosomal hydrogel by thin film hydration technique for drug delivery. The resultant formulations were characterized using light microscopy, DLS, Zeta potential, entrapment efficiency (EE %) and stability. In vitro skin permeation studies were also performed. The synthesized transferosomes were spherical in shape.

Hydrogel products constitute a group of polymeric materials, the hydrophilic structure of which renders them capable of holding large amounts of water in their three-dimensional networks. Extensive employment of these products in a number of industrial and environmental areas of application is considered to be of prime importance. As expected, natural hydrogels were gradually replaced by synthetic types due to their higher water absorption capacity, long service life, and wide varieties of raw chemical resources.
