Hydrothermal alteration
-
This book presents fundamental theories (thermodynamics, kinetics, mass balance model, coupling models such as the kinetics-fluid flow model, the box model, and others) concerning mechanisms in weathering, formation of hydrothermal ore deposits, hydrothermal alteration, formation of groundwater quality, and the seawater system.

The demand for energy is increasing day by day worldwide due to population growth, industrialization and rising living standards. Geothermal energy, one of the alternative energy sources, is preferred in terms of providing environmentally friendly, quality and regular energy. Our country is rich in geothermal resource potential. However, there are still many unexplored geothermal resources. In this study, fuzzy-AHP method was used to determine the geothermal potential of Ağrı province.

The Los Azufres geothermal field is the second most important geothermal field for electricity production in Mexico, with a total installed capacity of 188 MW. Hydrothermal alteration studies have been an important tool for geothermal exploration and development of the field, but little attention has been given to the geochemical and isotopic characterization of hydrothermal minerals.

Low-sulfidation epithermal Au-Ag mineralization in the Sındırgı district, Balıkesir Province, Turkey
The Sındırgı District (Balıkesir, western Turkey) lies within the Western Anatolian volcanic and extensional province, adjacent to the WNW-trending Simav graben, approximately 130 km NE of İzmir. The Sındırgı mining district is underlain mainly by Miocene volcanic rocks and hosts several low-sulfidation epithermal Au-Ag deposits and prospects located near the towns of Sındırgı and Bigadiç.

The Yenipazar deposit of volcanogenic sulfide occurrence, situated approximately 9 km SW of Yenipazar, is hosted in quartzmuscovite schists and gneiss. Following the Late Cretaceous, the quartz-mica schists and gneiss have been altered to clay minerals, resulting in important kaolin deposits.

The Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous Dehsard mafic volcanic rocks crop out in the southeastern Sanandaj–Sirjan Zone (SSZ), composed primarily of basalts and basaltic andesite with subordinate dolerite. They are influenced to some degree by hydrothermal alteration under zeolite–greenschist facies.

Since the book on the Geology of Nigeria by C.A. Kogbe, published by Elizabethan Publishing Company, appeared in 1976, no other attempt has been made to review, collate and publish the advances made in the geology of Nigeria in a comprehensive format. Yet over the years, many studies, evaluations and re-evaluations have been undertaken in many aspects of the geology of Nigeria. Kogbe’s book on the Geology of Nigeria remained the only reference book in the aspect of understanding the regional geology of Nigeria....
