  • Starch is present in many prepared ‘ready-meals’ that have undergone processing and/or storage in frozen or chilled state. Hydrothermal processing greatly increases starch digestibility and postprandial glycaemia. Effects of different heating/drying and cooling regimes on amylolysis have received little attention.

  • This paper presents a simple process of fabricating a superhydrophobic carbon steel surface with high water repellence and good corrosion resistance. The steel surface was covered by thin ZnO layers via various methods of sol-gel method, hydrothermal synthesis, and electrochemical deposition, then further functionalised with methyl trichlorosilane.

  • NH3 adsorption and desorption behavior of a commercial Cu-chabazite (CHA) NH3 selective catalytic reduction (NH3 -SCR) catalyst was studied in the presence and absence of H2O. NH3 uptake values at various adsorption temperatures were obtained during various steps of the adsorption and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) experiments. Total NH3 uptake decreased from 4.6 to 1.6 g NH3/L catalyst when the adsorption temperature was increased from 50 to 300◦C.

  • The octahedron Zn2SnO4 was prepared through a facile hydrothermal method for ethanol gas-sensing application. The synthesized material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and powder x-ray diffraction (XRD). The gas-sensing characteristics were measured at various concentrations of ethanol at temperature ranging from 350 to 450 ºC. The gas response exhibits good linear relationship with increasing ethanol concentrations in the range of 50 -250 ppm.

  • The Anzer glacial valley, at an elevation of over 2300 m in the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey, exhibits evidence for a low temperature hydrothermal system (40–100 °C). Low-temperature hydrothermal systems usually do not receive attention since they are not useful for energy production. However, in areas where natural beauty is prominent, as in the Anzer valley, such resources can easily trigger investment for all-season resorts that significantly contribute to the economy.
