  • Canines suffering from long bone fractures were immobilized by low density polypropylene (LDPP) splint and fiber glass cast. The study was conducted in clinical cases of 12 dogs suffering from long bone fractures. Animals were divided in two groups viz. Group I: Low density polypropylene (LDPP) splint (N=6) and Group II: Fiber Glass cast (N=6). Dogs immobilized with fiberglass casts attained full mobility and complete weight bearing on fractured limb earlier than the dogs treated with Low density polypropylene (LDPP) splints.

  • The decrease in strength of tile adhesive mortars during wet storage was investigated. In a first approach, the water resistance of the polymer phases was tested on structures isolated from the mortar and in situ. It was observed that cellulose ether and polyvinyl alcohol structures are water-soluble. Subsequent investigations on polymer mobility within the mortar showed that the migrating pore water transports cellulose ether and polyvinyl alcohol during periods of water intrusion and drying. This leads to enrichments at the mortar – substrate interface.

  • The upper part of ore bodies was weathered and completely oxidized. Difference in geochemical behavior of lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) in the oxidation process of Pb-Zn ore led to the formation of non-sulfide zinc ore in the Cho Dien deposit. Oxidation of primary Pb-Zn ore minerals such as sphalerite, pyrite and galena creates a low pH environment and transforms zinc from immobile (sphalerite - ZnS) to mobile (Zn2+) and is retained in solution under low(acidic) pH conditions; whereas lead has the tendency to form soluble minerals (anglesite, cerussite).

  • In this paper the structural and dynamical characteristics in alumina- silicate Al2O3– 2SiO2 (AS2) liquid are investigated by molecular simulation method. Structural properties are clarified through the pair radial distribution function, distribution of TOn (T= Si, Al) coordination units and distribution of partial bond angle in TOn. Furthermore the change in diffusion mechanism between low and high pressure is revealed by transition of the structural units TOx → TOx±1. At the lowpressure, liquid AS2 exhibits the dynamics heterogeneity (DH).
