Incidence of carbapenem resistance
-
The enhancing incidence of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP)-mediated infections in Mengchao Hepatobiliary Hospital of Fujian Medical University in 2017 is the motivation behind this investigation to study gene phenotypes and resistance-associated genes of emergence regarding the CRKP strains.

Staphylococcus aureus recently shows resistance to many Beta lactam antibiotics and Carbapenems. This study is focused on the incidence of MRSA in NICUs. Using Gram staining, blood culture and antibiotic sensitivity tests, MRSA can be identified. Septicemia is diagnosed not only by the isolation of the organism in blood culture. It should be correlated with total count, CRP like lab investigations and clinical features. Sometimes repeated blood culture is needed to confirm the diagnosis and to assess the prognosis.

ESBL producing clinical isolates of gram negative organisms are major burden in hospital as well as in the community. These organisms are the causative agent for septicemia. Carbapenem group (Imipenem and Ertapenem) are the drug of choice for treating such infections. Recently increased incidences of resistance to Imipenem were reported, that makes the management of sepsis difficult.

Carbapenamases producing Klebsiella pneumoniae subspp pneumoniae strains are increasing worldwide and pose a major threat to patient care. Hence, the present study was undertaken to detect the incidence of Carbapenamases producing Klebsiella pneumoniae subspp pneumoniae strains isolated from different clinical specimens in the department of Microbiology and Antibiotic Susceptibility profile of Klebsiella pneumoniae subspecies pneumoniae strains. The study was approved by Institutional Ethical Committee (IEC). The type of study was cross sectional observational study.

The incidence of infections caused by multidrug resistant ESBL producing K.pneumoniae is on rise. The treatment of these infections have become increasingly difficult and life threatening. Knowledge on prevalence of these infections and corresponding antimicrobial susceptibility patterns is essential regionally. Routine standard operative procedures were followed in the laboratory in processing the clinical specimens for culture and sensitivity. ESBL producing K.pneumoniae were identified by phenotypic combination disc test. Majority of K.

Aim of the study was to isolate and characterize Gram negative bacilli causing urinary tract infections in catheterized patients of either sex and above 19 years of age in intensive care units and to study the antimicrobial sensitivity pattern of the urinary isolates. Total of 100 catheterised patients in Intensive care units were analysed retrospectively and prospectively in a period of 1 year from December 2012 to November 2013 to assess the urinary tract infections caused by indwelling catheter. Of 100 cases, 26 showed catheter associated urinary tract infections. Out of them 11 were E.
