In this study, TiO2/Carbon aerogel material (TiO2/CA) synthesized by the sol-gel method has improved TiO2 photocatalytic activity by trapping electrons and increasing the specific surface area. The success of material synthesis was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Nitrogen physisorption, Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDS), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).

The rheological and biotechnological parameters of yoghurt fermented with S. thermophilus IMV B-7249 strain immobilized in a hydrogel were evaluated. It was determined that the functional state of the culture immobilized in highly dispersed silica remained corresponded to the proper technological parameters of sour-milk yoghurt, and the effective viscosity and stability of the product increased. This makes it possible to recommend such a preparation for a use not only for enteral use but also for the production of fermented milk products.

PbO2–MnO2 electrodes were prepared by electrochemical codeposition methods. The electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The content of manganese in the electrodes increased with the increase in manganese ion concentration in the solution, which can reach 48.4%. The codeposition of manganese decreased the grain sizes and formed the porous structure.

This paper calculates the dispersion relations in a bilayer graphene structure at finite temperatures using the random-phase approximation. The numerical results show that as temperature increases from zero, the plasmon frequency decreases slightly near the Dirac points and then increases noticeably.

In this study, phase separation of colloidal whey protein isolate (WPI) particle dispersions was studied using a rod-like polysaccharide xanthan. Effects of different xanthan concentration, particle volume fraction, and temperature were analyzed by visual observations, turbidity measurements, and particle mobility tracking method. Particle mobility was determined using a diffusing wave spectroscopy (DWS) set up. Xanthan concentration was kept low in order not to increase the viscosity of dispersions, so that the phase separation could be observed easily.

Silicon carbide (SiC) was synthesized from Vietnamese rice husk ash and diatomite via the Acheson process in a graphite electric arc furnace. In this type of furnace, arc current generates temperature and therefore effect on the formation of SiC. The influence of arc current at 100, 150 and 200 A was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy, XRD and Raman spectroscopy were performed to analyze the formation of SiC materials. Results showed the weight percentage of SiC in the synthesized product increased as the arc current increased.

In this paper, we report a numerical calculation of the influence of structural parameters on the supercontinuum generation of photonic crystal fibers. A photonic crystal fiber based on the fused silica glass, eight rings of air holes ordered in a hexagonal lattice, is proposed. Guiding properties in terms of dispersion and confinement loss of the fundamental mode are also studied numerically. As a result, the broadband width of the supercontinuum spectrum will increase when the lattice pitch decreases or the diameter of air hole in the cladding increases.

In the present study, experimental investigation on thermal conductivity of green nanofluids prepared from coconut fibre-based nanoparticles and suspended in 60:40 ethylene glycol (EG) water (W) mixture was carried out. The measurement of thermal conductivity was conducted at 15 °C to 60 °C at mass fractions of 0.04 wt%, 0.08 wt%, 0.5 wt% and 1 wt%. The results show deterioration in thermal conductivity with an increasing temperature. Also the deterioration increased as the mass fraction increased.

This work aimed at improving the solubility of curcumin by the preparation of spray-dried ternary solid dispersions containing Gelucire®50/13-Aerosil® and quantifying the resulting in vivo oral bioavailability and anti-inflammatory activity. The solid dispersion containing 40% of curcumin was characterised by calorimetry, infrared spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction. The solubility and dissolution rate of curcumin in aqueous HCl or phosphate buffer improved up to 3600- and 7.3-fold, respectively.

Effects of graphene oxide content on mechanical, thermal properties and morphology of composite coating based on acrylic emulsion R4152 and graphene oxide (GO) have been investigated. Obtained results showed that GO particles had insignificant effect on adhesion of composite coating but GO improved abrasion resistance of composite coatings. The abrasion durability of coatings increased with GO ratio rising to 0.5 % and then abrasion resistance of coatings decreased with GO ratio continuously growing up.

In this study, high temperature oxidation-resistant NiCr/Al duplex coatings on carbon steel substrate have been fabricated by electrical wire arc-spraying process. The oxidation resistance properties of NiCr/Al duplex coating system have been evaluated at 800 °C during retention times of 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 and 6.0 hours. The morphology and chemical composition of their cross-sectional structures were investigated using scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS).
