This study reviewed the latest information on the presence of PMMoV and human enteric viruses in water environments and in wastewater (water) treatment systems to evaluate the suitability of PMMoV as an indicator virus for water safety and quality.

In this study, a computational investigation of the physicochemical properties of hypericin and pseudohypericin revealed drug-like characteristics. Pharmacokinetic predictions indicated that hypericin and pseudohypericin are non-toxic to the central nervous system, hepatic system, and cardiac system. Molecular docking results indicated a strong binding affinity of hypericin/pseudohypericin with MPXV thymidylate kinase. As a result, these compounds are being considered as potential Mpox control candidates.

Polydnaviruses are a unique group of insect viruses in terms of their obligate and symbiotic associations with some parasitic wasps. TheCotesia kariyaipolydnavirus (CkPDV) replicates only in ovarian calyxcells of C. kariyaifemale wasps and is injected into the wasp’s host, the armyworm Pseudaletia separata,along with the eggs. Host species specificity of the polyomaviruses simian virus 40 (SV40) and mouse polyomavirus (PyV) has been shown to be determined by the host DNA polymerase a-primase complex involved in the initiation of both viral and host DNA replication. Here we demonstrate that DNA repli-cation of the related human pathogenic polyomavirus JC virus (JCV) can be supportedin vitro by DNA polymerase a-primase of either human or murine origin indicating that the mechanism of its strict species specificity differs from that of SV40 and PyV.

Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DP IV, CD26) plays an essential role in the activation and proliferation of lymphocytes, which is shown by the immunosuppressive effects of syn-thetic DP IV inhibitors. Similarly, both human immuno-deficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) Tat protein and the N-terminal peptide Tat(1–9) inhibit DP IV activity and T cell prolifer-ation. Therefore, the N-terminal amino acid sequence of HIV-1 Tat is important for the inhibition of DP IV.

Chest pain with dysphagia occurs in DES and related motor disorders. Chest pain resembling DES may occur in esophageal obstruction due to a large bolus. A prolonged history of heartburn and reflux preceding dysphagia indicates peptic stricture. A history of prolonged nasogastric intubation, ingestion of caustic agents, ingestion of pills without water, previous radiation therapy, or associated mucocutaneous diseases may provide the cause of esophageal stricture. If odynophagia is present, candidal, herpes, or pill-induced esophagitis should be suspected.
