They can germinate, grow and reproduce successfully in saline areas which would cause the death of regular plants. Most halophytic species are found in salt marsh systems along seashores or around landlocked inland lakes and flat plains with high evaporation.

Freshwater ecosystems have a greater value for biodiversity per surface area than terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Streams and lakes are notably prone to biodiversity loss, being the greatest threats habitat destructions and nonnative species. The aim of the present study is to assess the fish composition of lotic and lentic water systems of an island ecosystem (Gökçeada Island, Turkey), which is poorly studied, and to highlight the entry routes and possible impacts of translocated fish species in an island ecosystem.

The freshwater copepod Mesocyclops Sar, 1914, a species-rich genus within the family Cyclopidae Rafinesque, 1815, is common in tropical areas. In addition, the genus members are used for the biological control of mosquito larvae (Anopheles, Aedes) which are vectors for transmitting dengue fever. In Vietnam, a total of 11 Mesocyclops species have been recorded in inland freshwater bodies. Of which, one endemic species (M. sondoongensis Tran & Hołyńska, 2015) and two species were described from Vietnam, namely M. yenae Hołyńska, 1998; M. ferjemurami Hołyńska & Vu, 2000.

The study area was visited and surveyed twice in a month. During each visit waterfowl census was carried out and water samples were also collected to document changes in physico-chemical parameters and microbial analysis over the seasons. The aggregation of birds in the area is mainly related to the increase in migratory population of birds during winter. The variations inland bird aggregations as well as physico-chemical factors are discussed.

Present investigation deals with the fish faunal diversity in different habitat types in Hooghly district. Three types of floodplain water bodies were studied such as river, canal and ponds to determine the distribution of different fish species during different seasons. Results exhibit presence of 87 species in river Hooghly, 57 species in inland water and 47 species in different canals.

Most common reason for the waterlogging problem in the agricultural field is absence of an adequate drainage system. The sustainability of farm operations are highly vulnerable due to fluctuations in rainfall. Thus, the estimation of drainage design layout and identification of the vulnerable area for waterlogging are the most vital operations for achieving maximum yield of paddy inland. Inland fishery resources are significantly contributed in fisheries sectors. In this regard, trend of inland fish production of Tamil Nadu was analyzed based on the available resources and utilization and seed production for the last decade. Calculated Average Annual Growth rate of fish seed production and inland fish production were 10.21% and 1.85%, respectively. The linear regression line for inland fish production was indicated that increasing trend for every year (R² = 0.673), while fish seed production was negative trend (R² = 0.094).

Wadi El Raiyan is a great depression located southwest of Cairo in the Western Desert of Egypt. Lake Qarun, located north of the study area, is a closed basin with a high evaporation rate. The source of water in the lake is agricultural and municipal drainage from the El Faiyum province. In 1973, Wadi El Raiyan was connected with the agricultural wastewater drainage system of the Faiyum province and received water that exceeded the capacity of Lake Qarun. Two hydrogeological regimes have been established in the area: (i) higher cultivated land and (ii) lower Wadi El Raiyan depression lakes.

In January 2010, torrential rains that had suddenly swept away a limited area in the Eastern Desert facing Qena Province in Upper Egypt resulted in the enriching of the vegetation of some extremely dry wadis at this location. A vegetation survey carried out shortly after this event, in April, revealed the prevalence of annuals in considerable abundance, which are hardly recognisable in such usually dry habitats.
