This study utilized a mixed-method approach, specifically concurrent triangulation. Quantitative and qualitative data were gathered concurrently, and then compared and combined the results to get a comprehensive understanding of the topic.

In this study, we suggested an FSO system with RIS assistance to mitigate the effects of signal blockage in the communication system, atmospheric turbulence, and UAV’s misalignment-induced fading. In a free-space environment with obstacles, the probability density function and cumulative distribution functions of an FSO system made up of RIS are derived.

In this paper, we present an in-house flexible and portable lidar system integrating an inexpensive, passively Q-switched laser Nd: YAG and a detection module operating in both analog and photon counting mode. This system is designed to study the atmospheric boundary layer (BL) and cirrus clouds (CC). The passively Q-switched Nd:YAG pulsed laser, operating at a second-harmonic generation (SHG) wavelength of 532 nm, features a pulse energy up to 200 mJ, a repetition rate of 1 Hz to 15 Hz, and a pulse duration of 15 ns.

In this work, gold nanorods (AuNRs) with well-controlled aspect ratios were prepared using a modified seedgrowth method and covered by TiO2 layers through the hydrothermal reaction to improve stability. Integrating TiO2 with plasmonic rod-like gold nanoparticles could enhance their photo activity by the local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect. AuNRs aspect ratios were controlled by varying the amount of seed solution, reducing agents, surfactant (CTAB), and titanium (IV) but oxide.

We propose a new optical processor that implement an optical vector matrix multiplication (OVMM) or dot product circuit using multimode interference (MMI) based microring resonator structures. Our structure can be integrated into only one single chip without the need of wavelength division multiplexers (WDM). The control of weight and input signals is based on the graphene material for high speed computing.
