Intimate engagements

We investigated whether partner (spouse or intimate partner) engagement in colorectal cancer (CRC) surveillance is associated with patient receipt of surveillance. Partners are engaged (informed, involved, and aware) in CRC surveillance. Future research to develop dyadic interventions that capitalize on the positive aspects of partner engagement may help partners effectively engage in surveillance to improve patient care.

This document is an Appropriate Durable Record (ADR) of my Masters of Fine Art research project, titled, A moment of beauty: An Archive of Intimate Engagements. The ADR contains photographic documentation of my artwork produced through this investigation along with a written reflective process – outlining the objectives of the research, identifying research questions, describing how the artworks were created and evaluated. The central focus of this research is studio based painting and drawing. The intention of the artwork is to locate beauty ‘in a moment’.

Women remain disproportionally affected by the HIV/ AIDS epidemic because of sociocultural factors including violence perpetrated by intimate partners. Among HIVpositive (HIV+) women, intimate partner violence (IPV) affects engagement in care and reproductive health outcomes.

Civic engagement and interaction with industry are emphasised both in the curriculum and in the overall student experience. Collaboration with industry and professional bodies is embedded in many DIT programmes and is integral to how DIT continues to adapt to the ever-quickening pace of change globally.

NEARLY three decades ago, while engaged in the postgraduate study of American history, I began reading a book of nature writing by Joseph Wood Krutch, The Twelve Seasons, and immediately saw what was missing from my seminars. There was no nature in their history—no sense of the presence and influence of the land on past human experience, no soil, no countryside, no smell of fungus, no sound of spring peepers trilling from the marsh at dusk.

When I was first inspired to write The World’s Best- Kept Beauty Secrets, it was because I had gathered years of interviews, tips, and important information as a model, trainer, and fashion and beauty journalist.
