We aimed to compare the effect of dexmedetomidine with remifentanil on hemodynamic stability, surgical feld quality, and surgeon satisfaction during rhinoplasty. Dexmedetomidine was associated with relatively stable hemodynamics, leading to decreased intraoperative bleeding, recovery time, and greater surgeon satisfaction and the level of consciousness in the recovery ward.

Inadvertent intraoperative hypothermia (core temperature < 36 °C) is a common but preventable adverse event. This study aimed to determine whether active intraoperative warming reduced bleeding in patients undergoing major operations: open thoracic surgery and hip replacement surgery.

Cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is often associated with massive bleeding and blood transfusion. For patients requiring specific blood products, meticulous blood management is critical to reduce blood loss, as well as the need for transfusion. Here, we have described the intraoperative blood management in a patient with anti-Oka antibody, who underwent cardiac surgery with CPB.

Terlipressin, in general, is a vasopressor which acts via V1 receptors. Its infusion elevates mean blood pressure and can reduce bleeding which has a splanchnic origin. The primary outcome was to assess the impact of intraoperative terlipressin infusion on portal venous pressure during hepatobiliary surgery; the 2ry outcomes included effects upon systemic hemodynamics, estimated blood loss, and postoperative renal functions.

Hemostatic agents, tissue adhesives and sealants may contribute to a reduction in hemorrhage-associated morbidity and mortality. Towards this end, we have recently developed a lysine-based dendritic hydrogel (PEG-LysNH2) that can potentially be used in the management of severe trauma and/or intraoperative bleeding.
