Ebok "Lithium-ion batteries: Science and technologies" contains an in-depth review of electrode materials, electrolytes and additives for LIB, as well as indicators of the future directions for continued maturation of the LIB. In developing electrochemical cells, one must keep in mind that the real goal is to package and control all the materials and components (cathode and anode active materials, electrolytes, separators, current collectors etc.) in a limited volume to enable maximum energy storage without creating any safety problems.

In the study "Comparison of determining the 10B and 6Li depth profiles based on NDP and SIMS analytical methods" the comparison of the analytical results between SIMS (Secondary-ion mass spectrometry) and NDP (Neutron Depth Profiling) methods have been carried out with LiCoO2 and BSi samples. The NDP is an analytical method to analyze the component nuclide concentration versus depth distribution in a sample by detecting the charged particles emitted after the neutrons are absorbed.

Silicon (Si) is the most promising next-generation anode material for lithium-ion batteries. However, it often suffers from a fast capacity fading due to the large volume changes during the lithiation/delithiation resulting in electrical contact loss between different components of the anode and eventually in battery fading.

Lithium (Li) is the lightest metal, has unique physicochemical properties and is the main component of lithium-ion batteries. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries play a very important role in maximizing the performance of electric devices and vehicles. It is predicted that the metal and mineral demand for lithium-ion batteries will increase 56 times by 2050. In order to meet the increasing demand, in addition to known methods, lithium recovery from geothermal waters has become a very popular research subject.

Ultra-heat-treated (UHT) cow milk is mostly consumed in Turkey. Heating milk can cause some chemical and biochemical changes that affect different components of milk. However, studies on the constituents of UHT milk are scare. In the present study, nitrate and thiocyanate contents of commercial UHT whole cow milk were determined simultaneously by sample stacking-capillary electrophoresis. The best separation of nitrate and thiocyanate ions was performed by reducing the electroosmotic flow at pH 4.0 using 30 mM formic acid and 30 mM sodium sulfate containing separation electrolyte.

Transcriptomic analysis between self- and cross-pollinated pistils of tea plants (Camellia sinensis)
Self-incompatibility (SI) is a major barrier that obstructs the breeding process in most horticultural plants including tea plants (Camellia sinensis). The aim of this study was to elucidate the molecular mechanism of SI in tea plants through a high throughput transcriptome analysis.

New membrane materials based on cross-linked poly(n-butyl acrylate) (nBA), have been used successfully as calcium ion-selective membranes. These membrane materials possess selfplasticising property and hence do not require plasticisers. The photocurability and good adhesion characteristics of these polymer matrices enable workable solid-state calcium ion sensors to be fabricated by simple photocure procedures employing the calcium ionophore ETH5234 and a lipophilic additive as ion sensing components.

Binary collision approximation (BCA) calculation allows for two types of damage calculation: full cascade and quick calculations. Full cascade mode describes fully the cascades while in quick calculations, only the trajectory of the ion is followed and effective formulas give an estimation of the damage resulting from each collision of the ion.

Salinity tolerance is a physiologically multi-faceted trait attributed to multiple mechanisms. Three barley (Hordeum vulgare) varieties contrasting in their salinity tolerance were used to assess the relative contribution of ionic, osmotic and oxidative stress components towards overall salinity stress tolerance in this species, both at the whole-plant and cellular levels.

The formation constants and the concentration of [M] and [MLi] in complex solutions of Ni2+ and Zn2+ with xylenol orange were determined by spectrophotometric method and principal component analysis. In this way, the spectral data were used to calculate the formation constants of complexes between ions Ni2+ and Zn2+ with xylenol orange using algorithm of principal component analysis (PCA) in DATAN. The concentration values of Ni2+ and Zn2+ in synthetic solutions resulting from this technique using xylenol orange (XO) at pH 7.2 agree well with experimental data.

Wadi El Raiyan is a great depression located southwest of Cairo in the Western Desert of Egypt. Lake Qarun, located north of the study area, is a closed basin with a high evaporation rate. The source of water in the lake is agricultural and municipal drainage from the El Faiyum province. In 1973, Wadi El Raiyan was connected with the agricultural wastewater drainage system of the Faiyum province and received water that exceeded the capacity of Lake Qarun. Two hydrogeological regimes have been established in the area: (i) higher cultivated land and (ii) lower Wadi El Raiyan depression lakes.

This study was focused on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Acalypha hispida leaf extract and the characterization of the particles using UV–Vis spectroscopy, XRD, FT-IR, and TEM. The results showed the formation of silver nanoparticles, crystalline in nature, with an average size of 20–50 nm. The leaf extract components were analyzed with GC–MS and exhibited a high content of Phytol (40.52%), n-Hexadecanoic acid (9.67%), 1,2,3-Benzenetriol (7.04%), a-D-Mannofuranoside methyl (6.22%), and D-Allose (4.45%).

Arachidonic acid (AA 20:4n-6) is an essential component of cell membranes and modulates cell membrane fluidity. AA is metabolized by cyclo-oxygenase (COX), lipoxygenase (LOX) and cytochrome P450 enzymes to form several metabolites that have important biological actions. Of all the actions, role of AA in the regulation of blood pressure and its ability to prevent both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus seems to be interesting.
