Having started the exploration of rare earth elements (REE) since the early 1958 and currently ranked the second in the world in term of REE potential, only after China, the REE exploration and production industry in Vietnam is still in an early stage of exploration and production due to a number of reasons, including lacks of investment, testing and mining experiences, up-to-date technology, good development policy and adequate guidance regulations.

In this study, we conducted the sequence polymorphisms analysis in the OsHKT1;5 coding region in order to detect the potential allelic variants in some local rice cultivars in Viet Nam. In silico analysis of protein structure and post-translational modifications indicated that amino acid substitutions had no influence on protein structure but led to changes in post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and SUMOylation.

Mandatory disclosure of the species identity, production method, and geographical origin are embedded in the regulations and traceability systems, governing international seafood trade. A high-resolution mass spectrometry-based metabolomics approach could simultaneously authenticate the species identity and geographical origin of commercially important shrimps.

A major challenge in the treatment of liver cancer is that a large proportion of patients fail to achieve long-term disease control, with death from liver cancer cell migration and invasion. Acid-sensitive ion channel 1α (ASIC1α) is involved in the migration, invasion, and proliferation of liver cancer cells.

In almost the same order, the Fe, Zn and Si toxicity due to the salinity effects on the leaves could be reduced. Cu and Mn deficiency might be controlled but to a limited extent by SA then by GA3. Silicon ions may compete for the Na+ ions and hence reduce their absorption by the maize plants.

A complete liquid phase technology and a function regulator were applied to prepare CuZnAl catalysts for higher alcohol synthesis. Characterizations showed that the introduction of the function regulator can change the reduction ability of copper oxides and the surface basicity of catalysts. Activity tests indicated that the selectivity of higher alcohol is high when considerable medium-strong basicity and the synergistic effects of copper ion and metal copper exist on the catalytic surface.

Plants evolved from long-term adaptation to form regulatory mechanisms of perception, transduction, and response to stresses. The CBL–CIPK signaling system is a basic calcium sensor that plays an important role in sensing adverse environmental stimuli. CBLs can perceive and bind Ca2+ under adversity and then specifically interact with CIPKs. The activated CBL–CIPK complex phosphorylates downstream target proteins (such as ion channels and transporters), or regulates transcription factors and stress responsive genes.

Eggshell formation takes place in the shell gland of the oviduct of laying hens. The eggshell is rich in calcium and various glycoproteins synthesised in the shell gland. Although studies have identified genes involved in eggshell formation, little is known about the regulation of genes in the shell gland particularly in a temporal manner.

Salinity is one of the most aggressive environmental stresses that hamper crop productivity worldwide. Increased salt concentration in soil reduces plants ability to take up water. It also reduces nutrients availability, uptake and transport, and there distribution resulting nutritional imbalance in plant. The Salt Overly Sensitive (SOS) signalling pathway is crucial to mediate cellular signalling and to maintain ion homeostasis under salinity stress. Many HKT family plasma membrane transporters play an essential role in salt tolerance mechanism by regulating Na+ and K+ transportation.

Both biotic and abiotic stresses are major constrains to agricultural production. Under stress conditions, plant growth is affected by a number of factors such as hormonal and nutritional imbalance, ion toxicity, physiological disorders, susceptibility to diseases, etc. Plant growth under stress conditions may be enhanced by the application of microbial inoculation including plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR).

Zinc as a biomarker can be used to diagnose the early stage prostate cancer, while ZIP1 protein, a zinc transporter is significantly down-regulated in prostate cancer cells. This behavior leads to the apparent alteration of the enrichment ability for zinc between early prostate cancer tissues and healthy tissues. This difference inspires us to develop a novel Zn2+ sensor that applies to the clinic diagnosis of early prostate cancer.
