"Productivity of sorghum (Sorghum bicolar L.) at diverse irrigation regimes and sowing dates in semi-arid and arid environment" was conducted to determine impact of sowing dates, irrigation regimes, and cultivars on yield and growth traits during 2016 and 2017 at two locations in Pakistan. Determining optimal sowing date, optimal number of irrigation applications, and best-performing cultivars is critical to maximizing achievable sorghum yield in semiarid and arid environments.

Performance indicators are used to identify the weaknesses and strengths of irrigation schemes. Until now, evaluations have been made using several different statistical methods to determine the performance of irrigation schemes. However, these methods showed the current performance of irrigation schemes and the statistical relationship between them. It is planned to provide adaptation of irrigation networks to climate change with state policies. Therefore, it is of great importance to estimate the future performance of irrigation schemes.

Drought is a major threat to wheat production worldwide and development of drought-tolerant wheat genotypes may improve the production of this cereal crop in drought affected regions. In the present study, 24 mutant lines were developed by treating a wheat variety ‘NN-Gandum-1(NN-1) with ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS). The M5 , M6 , and M7 generations were evaluated for quantitative traits under well irrigated and rainfed conditions. Furthermore, best performing mutants of M6 and M7 generations were examined for biochemical parameters.

Decreasing availability of water and increasing consumption of it in recent years shows water management plans increase its value. Depending on water consumption in the current and previous years, it is important to predict water consumption in the coming years and make plans accordingly. Evaluation of the performance of water use in agriculture, identifying water resources that are most intensively used and prediction of the potential performance in the coming years have become increasingly important.

Irrigation systems must have to be evaluated by acceptable indicators for expected outputs. Due to inappropriate, inadequate and wrong management of irrigation systems, farmers cannot obtain desirable outputs. In this study, four comparative indicators which are developed by International Water Management Institute (IWMI) were applied on Right main canal of West Banas irrigation project, Sirohi region in Rajasthan (India) to evaluate system performance.

To improve our understanding about the physiological mechanism of grain yield reduction at anthesis, three spring wheat genotypes [L1 (advanced line), L2 (Vorobey) and L3 (Punjab-11)] having contrasting yield potential under drought in field were investigated under controlled greenhouse conditions, drought stress was imposed at anthesis stage by withholding irrigation until all plant available water was depleted, while wellwatered control plants were kept at 95% pot water holding capacity.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kurukshetra, Haryana has conducted Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) in different villages of Kurukshetra to find out the yield gap between improved package practices applied in FLD with traditional farmers practices (FP) on wheat crop (WH-1105) under irrigated condition. It was observed that, the yield of wheat in FLD were ranges from 54.6 to 56.8 q/ha whereas, in FP it were found 51.2 to 53.6 q/ha during 2017- 18 to 2018-19.

Although, protective cultivation (in soil or soilless media) offers a favorable environment for crop growth, development and consequently, results in higher productivity. However, numerous factors viz. temperature, relative humidity, radiation, evapotranspiration (crop water requirement) vapour pressure deficit, plant stomatal conductance, irrigation, fertigation, disease incidence, leaf wetness duration, electricity cost, diesel fuel cost and labor cost affect the greenhouse cucumber production to a significant degree.
