Judd- Ofelt theory

In this report, SYGO:Eu3+ red phosphor have been successfully synthesized by sol-gel method. The X-ray diffraction results show that the sample has a cubic crystal structure, belonging to the space group Ia3d (230) without any doping. Scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) combined with EDS was performed to determine the microstructure and elemental composition of the fabricated phosphor.

Dy3+ doped lithium-sodium aluminoborate glass (60-x) B2O3-10Al2O3-15Na2O-15Li2O-xDy2O3 (ABLN: Dy3+) are prepared by the conventional melting procedure. Optical absorption and luminescence spectra have been measured at room temperature. Using the Judd - Ofelt (JO) theory, the intensity parameters Ωλ (λ = 2,4,6) have been evaluated for ABLN: Dy3+ glass. These intensity parameters are used to predict radiative properties that include electric (Sed) magnetic (Smd) dipole line strength, radiative transition probabilities (AR), lifetime (τR), branching ratios (βR) for the excited levels of Dy3+.

In this paper, the optical properties of Dy3 ions in alumino telluroborate glasses have studied using Judd-Ofelt (JO) theory [11, 12] and the CIE 1931 chromaticity diagram. The results have shown that alumino borotellurite glasses doped with Dy3 ions are promising for optical applications and white light emission.

The electron-phonon coupling strength (g) has been calculated. The value of Ωλ parameters were calculated from the emission spectra using Judd-Ofelt theory. These parameters were used to predict radiative properties such as transition probabilities (AR), calculated branching ratios (βR) and stimulated emission cross-sections (σλ p ) for 5D0 →7FJ transitions. The results have shown that the 5D0 →7F2 transition of Eu3+ ions in BTe glass is very promising for laser emission and optical amplification.

Borotellurite glasses doped with Sm3+ ions were prepared by a melt–quenching technique. The studies on optical characterization of Sm3+ ions have been carried out through absorption, emission and decay spectra. Judd-Ofelt (JO) intensity analysis has been presented and JO parameters were calculated for Sm3+ ions in borotellurite glasses. Radiative properties such as transition probabilities, branching ratios, radiative lifetime of 4G5/2 level and quantum efficiency were estimated by using JO parameters.
