  • The objective of the present study is to enhance the hovering efficiency of a UAV helicopter with a spherical fuselage under the effects of the fuselage size (Rf/R) and the distance between the fuselage and rotor (Hm/R), where R is the rotor radius. The RANS method combined with the k-ε turbulent model is used to model the airflow through the helicopter. The numerical model mentioned was well validated by comparing it with the results obtained in the literature.

  • This paper investigates the effects of recirculation channel on the performance of a single-stage transonic axial compressor, NASA Stage 37, such as pressure ratio, adiabatic efficiency, and operating range. Numerical analysis was conducted by solving three-dimensional steady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with the k-epsilon turbulence model.

  • The flow was modeled with the turbulence model k-ω turbulence model. The results showed that Taylor-Couette flow would form a flow pattern of Couette laminar, wavy vortex, and vortex turbulent. The wavelength of the wavelength rises with increasing rotation. The profile of temperature distribution is in the form of a linear profile increases with the Reynolds number.

  • A numerical investigation of turbulent swirling flows through an abrupt expansion tube is reported. The TEFESS code, based on a staggered Finite Volume approach with the standard kε model and first-order numerical schemes built-in, was used to carry out all the computations. The code has been modified in the present work to incorporate the ASM and two second-order numerical schemes.

  • The goal of this study is to demonstrate and quantify the impact that the uncertainty in thermophysical properties has on key metrics of thermal hydraulic importance for MSRs, in particular on the heat transfer coefficient. In order to achieve this, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations using the RANS k-ω SST model were compared to published experiment data on molten salt.

  • This article carries out the numerical simulation of airflow over three dimensional car models using ANSYS Fluent software. The calculations have been performed by using realizable k- turbulence model. The external airflow field of the simplified BMW M6 model with or without a wing is simulated. Several aerodynamic characteristics such as pressure distribution, velocity contours, velocity vectors, streamlines, turbulence kinetic energy and turbulence dissipation energy are analyzed in this study.

  • For the validation of results, the numerical solutions will be compared with experimental data taken from the Netherlands Ship Model Basin open-water test in Wageningen. The goal of the research is to provide a well-founded framework for applying CFD in analysis and selection of Wageningen B-Series propeller, as well as other well-known propeller series.

  • A modification of k-c turbulent model is described with application to the numerical investigation of two-phase turbulent jets. In difference of existed two-parameter models, new three-parameter modification have been suggested. In this case an additional equation for transportation of turbulent energy of admixture - kp is used together with equations of transportation of carrier- phase turbulent energy - kg and its dissipatiqn - c.

  • A finite-volume code is developed to compute the turbulent airflow over small-scale complex terrain. A pressure-correction algorithm is ·used to solve the threedimensional non-hydrostatic flow equations. The turbulent transport is simulated by the k- E: model using some modifications suitable for atmospheric boundary-layer application.
