This paper presents a detailed experimental validation of an orthotropic laminate model to predict the vibroacoustic behavior of flat sandwich-composite plates with foam core. The accuracy of the model is investigated using a thin sandwich plate over a large frequency band. The sound transmission loss (STL) across several clamped sandwich-composite plates with polyurethane foam core is compared for different core density, different core thickness and different skin thickness.

This paper is further extended NURBS-based isogeometric approach for response analysis of laminated composite plates using the higher-order shear deformation theory. The objective of this study is to develop a model to describe accurately the vibroacoustic performance of a clamped finite orthotropic laminated double-composite plate filled with air. In this investigation, the theoretical and existing experimental results were compared and reached a good agreement. The influence of several key system parameters (e.g., thickness of faceplate, the thickness of air cavity and the sound incident angles) on sound transmission loss is considered.

This paper analyzed the failure of the hat-type laminated composite plate under a bending load. Based on the Reissner-Mindlin plate theory and isoparametric rectangular plate elements with five degrees of freedom per node, an algorithm and Matlab code were established to compute the stresses and bending failure load of the folded composite plate according to Tsai-Wu and Maximum stresses criteria. The numerical results are reliable when compared with the published results in the literature for some specific cases.

In this paper the smoothed four-node element with in-plane rotations MISQ24 is combined with a C0 -type higher-order shear deformation theory (C0 -HSDT) to propose an improved linear quadrilateral plate element for static and free vibration analyses of laminated composite plates. This improvement results in two additional degrees of freedom at each node and require no shear correction factors while ensuring the high precision of numerical solutions.

This paper proposes an optimization procedure for maximization of the biaxial buckling load of laminated composite plates using the gradient-based interior-point optimization algorithm. The fiber orientation angle and the thickness of each lamina are considered as continuous design variables of the problem.

In present work hybrid composite laminated plate is prepared by mixing Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Graphene powder in glass fiber reinforced composite plates. The hand lay-up process has been adopted for preparing the composite plates. The antisymmetric cross ply (00 /900 /00 /900 ) composite laminated plates are considered for analysis. The hardness and Impact test on hybrid composite laminated plate is to be carried out on Brinell’s Hardness test and Charpy V - Notch Test.

This article studies the free vibration of composite ring-stiffened cylindrical shells by the continuous element method (CEM). The dynamic stiffness matrix (DSM) of the studied structure has been constructed based on the analytical solutions of the governing equations of motion for composite cylindrical shells and annular plates.

Vibro-acoustic analysis of a finite orthotropic laminated double-composite plate with enclosed air cavity on an infinite acoustic rigid baffle is investigated analytically. In the present paper, a comparison between five different shell finite elements, including the Linear Triangular Element, Linear Quadrilateral Element, Linear Quadrilateral Element based on deformation modes, 8-node Quadrilateral Element, and 9-Node Quadrilateral Element was presented. The shape functions and the element equations related to each element were presented through a detailed mathematical formulation. Additionally, the Jacobian matrix for the second order derivatives was simplified and used to derive each element’s strain-displacement matrix in bending.
