The Ba Lat estuary is part of the downstream stretch of the Red River Delta, the second-largest Delta in Vietnam and the 12th largest in the world. This study analyses GAT borehole sediments in the Ba Lat estuary area to assess environmental changes during the Late Pleistocene - Holocene period.

Herein, 20 ichnospecies belonging to 8 ichnogenera were identified in bivalves, gastropods, and corals (n = 701) from the Late Pleistocene coral reef along the Red Sea coast, northwest Saudi Arabia. The trace fossils were produced by clionid sponges (47.39%), endolithic bivalves (42.17%), polychaete annelids (5.42%), vermetid gastropods (3.81%), and acrothoracican barnacles (1.21%). The habitat conditions changed gradually, from well-oxygenated, shallow, high-energy back-reef and reef crest bioeroding polychaetes and bivalves, to deep, low-energy reef slope dominated by boring sponges.

The Late Pleistocene-Holocene evolution of the Adapazarı Basin was investigated using the stratigraphy, geometry, and absoluteluminescence dating of the 4-step fluvial terrace staircases of the Sakarya River. The results revealed that the fluvial cycle was primarily related to relative sea level changes of the Black Sea. The initiation of deposition and the abandonment ages of the terraces indicated relative high stands during marine isotope stage (MIS) 5a (~84–72 ka), 3 (40–30 ka), and 1 (9 ka-recent).

In West Anatolia near the cities of İzmir and Manisa, the historical occurrence of large earthquakes suggests the presence of important seismogenic faults. However, these faults have yet to be investigated in detail. The Manisa Fault Zone (MFZ) is an active large-scale normal fault system in this area, and thus field observations and palaeoseismological studies of this zone are important for predicting future earthquakes.

Sedimentary records of the continental shelves since Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 5 are valuable for paleoenvironmental reconstruction and decipherment of land–sea interactions. Since the 1990s, different perspectives on global glacioclimate magnitudes and the associated evolution of major sedimentary environments during the Late Pleistocene have caused a distinctive understanding of marine transgressions and coastal deposits during MIS 3 and MIS 5.

The later high alkaline, TiO2, and P2O5, and low SiO2 group, produced by central-type volcanic eruptions consisting of alkaline olivine and olivine basalts, overlies the early eruptive group. Crustal contamination may be expressed by the positive correlation between Ba/Nb and SiO2, which are higher in early eruptive basalts, possibly reflecting the involvement of crustal material, either in the source region or interaction of the melt on the way to the surface.

The formation of these units and surfaces is related to the global sea-level change in Late Pleistocene-Holocene. SB1, defined as the sequence boundary, was generated by subaerial processes during the Late Pleistocene regression and could be remolded partially or significantly by transgressive ravinement processes subsequently.

The cave of Tham Khuyen in Lang Son Province, northeastern Vietnam, has yielded a large mammalian fauna of probable late middle Pleistocene date. A series of isolated hominoid primate teeth, formerly allocated to the extant orangutan Pongo pygmaeus, has recently been reexamined and found to represent more than one species. These specimens are described in detail in this paper and are analyzed as follows. Some ofthe teeth are indeed clearly identifiable as those of Pongo pygmaeus, but the majority appear to belong to a species related to the orangutan but not identical with it....

The aim of the study was to reconstruct sedimentary environments of the MR1 core and investigate geotechnical properties of sedimentary facies through the piezocone penetration test (CPTU). A core at the Vinhlong province, Mekong River Delta (MRD), sufficiently presented the Holocene facies of the area. Eight facies were identified based upon sedimentary properties. Characteristics of the units showed
