Leadership in training teachers

Teacher professional development (TPD) is an important component of enhancing student learning and school education quality. Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training is reforming education, including curricula, teaching methods, and textbooks. Many requirements have to been done to effectively implement the reform, and TPD is considered a significant contribution.

The paper tends to demonstrate that recent education management is concentrating on the management of internal elements and inner actions of the education system and school management. The point is to lead, govern, manage and administer the education system facing with surrounding environment to ensure effective adaptation to the conditions of the market-economy, international integration and digitalization.

This study was conducted to show how group teaching in university was practiced in schools. The study is carried out in two phases: at VNU University of Education firstly when observing students’ teacher classrooms and secondly students’ classroom at primary/ secondary schools. The findings of the study are used to suggest guidance for good practice in leadership and management training courses in Vietnam.
