A field experiment was conducted during Kharif, 2014 at the central research farm of Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Allahabad to evaluate the Eco-friendly management of Brinjal shoot and fruit borer [Leucinodes orbonalis (Guenee)]. The per cent infestation of brinjal shoot and fruit borer (L. orbonalis) on seventh and fourteenth days after spraying revealed that all treatments are superior over control.

The life table of Leucinodes orbonalis was prepared from daily fecundity and survival of cohort, when larvae were reared on brinjal c.v. Shyamala at a temperature 26± 10 C. Results on the survival of different stages of L.. orbonalis indicated 10% mortality in the egg stage and with 20% and 28% mortality in the larval and pupal stages, respectively. The longest duration of egg incubation was 5 days, while the larval and pupal periods were 18 days and 11 days, respectively.

The experiment was conducted during Rabi 2016 at horticultural farm, college of agriculture, Kolhapur. The incidence of leaf hopper (Amrasca biguttula biguttula) was maximum during January, 1st Standard Week (SW) and minimum during February (8th SW). The incidence of white fly (Bemicia tabaci) was maximum during January, 1st Standard Week (SW) and minimum during February (8th SW). Both these insects showed significant negative correlation with both maximum and minimum temperature while a positive correlation was revealed with mean relative humidity.

Response of different brinjal genotypes against brinjal shoot and fruit borer (Leucinodes orbonalis Guenee.) was evaluated at horticulture research field of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G) during kharif, 2015-2016. 106 brinjal germplasm lines were evaluated for resistance to shoot and fruit borer. Minimum mean infestation in fruits was found in genotype IGB-92 (20.83%) while maximum mean infestation in fruits was recorded in IGB-89 (79.30%).

The present investigations were carried out at college of Horticulture, Venkataramannagudem during rabi 2016-17 to evaluate the response of 60 brinjal genotypes and 3 check varieties against shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis (Guenee). On farm trials in ten locations were conducted to evaluate efficacy of eco-friendly IPM strategies with emphasis on use of pheromone traps for management of brinjal shoot and fruit borer (Leucinodes orbonalis Guenee) and to create awareness among the farming community on brinjal fruit and shoot borer management during rabi, 2014-15 to 2017-18 in the farmer’s fields in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh.
