  • In this paper, samples of mosses and lichens collected from Bory Tucholskie National Park, Zaborski Landscape Park, and their surroundings (Pomerania Province, northern Poland) were studied for water bears (Tardigrada). In total, 38 tardigrade taxa were identified and six of them (Hypsibius cf. allisoni, Hyp. scabropygus, Macrobiotus sottilei, Milnesium beasleyi, Mil. dornensis, and Mil. granulatum) are new records for the Polish fauna.

  • This study deals with the data on Turkish records of oribatid mites that play an important role in decomposition of organic matter, nutrient cycling, and soil formation. Oribatid mites in litter, lichen, moss, and soil collected from Sakarya and Yozgat provinces were sampled between 2014 and 2020. Standard methods were used for extraction, detection, preservation, and preparation of mites from the material collected from study area.

  • Study of lichens flora of Phulchoki showed that this area is rich in the lichen flora. A total of 250 different samples were collected from this area. The identification of collected specimens was done on basis of their morphological, anatomical and inimical studies. The lichens were collected from different altitudinal gradients extending from 1500-2700m. above sea level. The association of lichens with different substrata also studied. A total of 32 species of lichens were identified, which encompass 9 families and 10 genera. Among them family Parmeliaceae was largest.

  • A phytochemical investigation was conducted on foliose lichen, Parmotrema tinctorum (Nyl.) Hale, collected in Lam Dong province, Vietnam. Color reactions for identification of lichen substances (+K deep yellow, +C red, +KC red, + P pale yellow) suggested the presence of atranorin, lecanoric acid, quinones, depsides, and xanthones containing two free hydroxyl groups in meta-position.

  • Fungal infections which include Dermatophytosis are one among the most common communicable disease in the world. Dermatophytes are a group of fungi which cause infection on skin, hair and nails and these fungi do not infect mucosal surfaces. The study was aimed at evaluating the antifungal activity of diethyl ether, methanol and acetone extract of selected lichens Usnea perplexans Stirton, Usnea spinocula Stirton, Usnea subsordiata Stirton, Ramalina conduplicans Vainio, Roccella montagnei Bel emend, Aswath against dermatophytes, Aspergillus flavus and Candida albicans.

  • The lichen Roccella sinensis has not been studied chemically. This research described the isolation and elucidation of compounds isolated from the lichen Roccella sinensis collected in Binh Thuan. Phytochemistry investigation of this lichen was carried out by using normal phase silica gel column chromatography and thin-layer chromatography. Six compounds was isolated. Their structures were established by extensively spectroscopic analysis as well as comparison with NMR data in the literatures.

  • This study entails a continuation of the phytochemical study regarding the lichen Usnea baileyi collected in Lam Dong province. Eight compounds, 8'-O-methylprotocetraric acid (1), protocetraric acid (2), virensic acid (3), subvirensic acid (4), barbatic acid (5), diffractaic acid (6), 4-O-demethylbabartic acid (7), and atranorin (8), were isolated using various chromatographic methods. Their chemical structures were elucidated through spectroscopic analysis as well as through a comparison of their data with that in the literature.
